COMMUNITY, LABOR & LAW ENFORCEMENT TO UNITE AT LORETO PLAYGROUND

Painting & Beautification Day honors NYPD Patrolman Alfred Loreto and supports the playground’s future

BRONX, NY — Friends of Loreto Playground will host a community Painting & Beautification Day on Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Loreto Playground, 1111 Van Nest Ave., in Morris Park.

Residents and families will work alongside organized labor, law enforcement, elected officials, community organizations and local volunteers to clean, paint and beautify the park.

Loreto Playground is named in memory of NYPD Patrolman Alfred Loreto, who was killed in the line of duty on July 21, 1950. Members of the Loreto family have been invited to join the community as the park that carries his name is improved and his legacy honored.

“This is about much more than painting and cleaning a playground. It is about residents, labor, law enforcement and community leaders standing together to show that Loreto Playground matters and that our neighborhood is ready to put in the work for its future,” said Marcos Quintana of Friends of Loreto Playground.
