Building connections in the Bronx! PSS was proud to join City Council Member Justin Sanchez of District 17 for his Back-to-School & Permanent Office Opening Block Party on September 1 at his new office at 1307 Southern Blvd.

PSS’s own Miguel Suarez (Program Director, PSS Andrew Jackson Center) and Vanessa Santiago (Program Director, PSS Davidson Center) had the opportunity to meet with Councilmember Sanchez, share important info about PSS programs and services with community members at the Councilmember’s info table, and connect with local organizations.

PSS was excited to tour the Councilmember’s new office and explore opportunities to partner on future community events and initiatives.

At PSS we're not just creating programs. We're creating spaces where older adults can be seen, heard, celebrated, and have a little fun along the way.

Happy Independence Day from PSS!

This year, we celebrate a remarkable milestone: 250 years of American independence.

As we honor our nation's history, we also celebrate the people who continue to shape its future. Older adults have built families, strengthened neighborhoods, served their communities, and passed on traditions that continue to inspire generations.

Today is a time to reflect with gratitude, celebrate with loved ones, and recognize that our greatest strength has always been our people and the communities we create together.

From all of us at PSS, we wish you a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day.

Eight PSS older adult centers are open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10am to 6pm to provide relief from the heat for the city's most vulnerable. We are grateful to NYC Department for the Aging and Commissioner Lisa Scott-McKenzie for funding this essential service.

U.S. Rep. Ritchie Torres visited the PSS Andrew Jackson Center, spending time with members and recognizing the valuable contributions of our community. During his visit, he presented citations to our Board Members in appreciation of their ongoing dedication, leadership, and volunteer service. We are grateful for his support and recognition of the important work being done at our center.
