Bronx Charter School for Better Learning

Bronx Charter School for Better Learning Elementary schools that recognize and nurture every child's natural ability to learn.

BBL was chartered in 2003 and currently has serves just over 1000 students across two campuses. These students are primarily from low-income, minority families, including 94% who are African-American, and over 75% who are economically disadvantaged (eligible for the federal Free/Reduced Price Lunch Program). There is a large immigrant population in the community, and many of our students’ parents

are natives of Jamaica and other parts of the Caribbean. There are also far fewer adults over 25 with high school diplomas in the community than the national average (71% locally vs. 80% nationally, according to the 2000 Census), which has a well-established correlation with lower student achievement.

As we celebrate this important day of freedom, reflection, and community, we want to extend our warmest wishes to all of our families and neighbors throughout the Bronx.

We are also approaching the end of another wonderful school year at Bronx Better Learning Charter School. Please remember that the last day of school is June 26th, and we are excited to finish the year strong with our students and families.

🌲🎉 Learning doesn’t stop when students leave the classroom!

Our students had an amazing end-of-year adventure at Club Getaway, where they challenged themselves on ropes courses, embraced new experiences, and built confidence through outdoor learning.

From teamwork and perseverance to courage and resilience, our students learned meaningful lessons. We’re proud of all they’ve accomplished this year and grateful for opportunities that inspire growth both inside and outside the classroom.

🎉 We want to share a huge thank you to everyone who came out for Bronx Better Learning’s Community Carnival this past weekend!! It was wonderful to be with friends, community, and family.

Many thanks to our staff for taking time on their weekend to work on this great event, as well as the families, vendors, and community leaders who came out to support us, including Council Member , who has long been a champion of ours!

We look forward to many more years of celebrating our most important mission: educating the children of our community. 📚🍎💙
