Galveston County Mosquito Control has trucks and airplanes spraying all areas of Galveston County, including Texas City, to treat for mosquitos. You can also request an additional treatment spray by calling the County at (800) 842-5622 or emailing [email protected].

There's also a new online request form: https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/b3b3e4db947946f189423b56859d0a60

If you're noticing mosquitos after the recent storms in our area, be sure to check for standing water and drain any containers, tires, pots, wheelbarrows, and anything else that could hold water and become a breeding spot for mosquitos.

Congratulations to Engineer Troy Wilson, who was promoted to his new rank in the Texas City Fire Department at last week's City Commission meeting!

Fire Chief Dennis Harris presented the promotion, praising Wilson for assisting the captains in mentoring & training new staff members, being dedicated to serving the community and making an impact in the department.

His station chimed in with similar praise, rating Engineer Wilson a 5 out of 5 in driving trucks, patient care and cleaning the station, but a 1 out of 5 for cooking. 😁

Congratulations, Engineer Wilson! From all of us, we thank you for your hard work and dedication to our community.

Spend your Friday evening under the stars, enjoying a movie with your family! Our series of Movie in the Park events starts this Friday, June 26 at Rotary Pavilion.

While we can’t post the name of the movie, it’ll be an animated adventure featuring a floppy-eared police officer and her foxy sidekick as they follow the twisty trail of a mysterious reptile.

Admission is free. The movie starts at dusk, when it starts to get dark enough to see the movie on the screen (approximately 8:15-8:30 p.m.).
