Chief Copeland spent more than 35 years serving the citizens of Texarkana and the Texarkana Fire Department before retiring in 2016. During that time, he built a career that touched nearly every part of the department.

He started as a Firefighter, promoted to Driver/Engineer, served in the Fire Marshal’s Office, promoted to Captain, later became Battalion Chief, served in the Training Division, and even helped LEAD the department for a period of time. He eventually retired from the Fire Marshal’s Office as a Battalion Chief.

That kind of career says a lot about his dedication, knowledge, and commitment to the job.

But Kenny was more than his rank or title. He was one of those people you just didn’t forget. He had a story for everything, a personality all his own, and a way of making an impression on everyone around him.

If you knew Kenny, chances are you have a story about him or you sat through one of his, maybe longer than you planned. But those are the memories that will stick with us.

He gave a lot to this department, this city, and the people around him.

Rest easy, Chief Copeland. You earned it.

FAREWELL FRIDAY:
Today we recognize and celebrate Driver Engineer David Jackson as he moves on to a new chapter in his career with a different fire department.

David dedicated 9 years to our department, including 3 years as a Driver Engineer, where his skill, leadership, and commitment made a lasting impact on our team and community. His experience and presence will truly be missed. It’s not easy to replace someone who brings so much knowledge and dedication to the job every day.

While it’s always tough to say goodbye, we’re proud to see David take the next step toward greater opportunities for himself and his family. We know he’ll continue to do great things in his new department.

From all of us at Local 367, thank you for your service, your hard work, and your brotherhood. Wishing you nothing but success and safety in this next journey.

Stay safe, brother. 🚒

Farewell Friday

Today we recognize and celebrate one of our own, Driver Engineer Hunter Fant, as he begins a new chapter in his career.

After over 11 years of dedicated service, Hunter made the decision to continue his journey with another department in pursuit of new opportunities and growth. We wish him the absolute best in his journey. However, there’s no denying that the Texarkana Fire Department has lost a great asset with years of experience.

Hunter has served our community with dedication and passion. His commitment to protecting the citizens of Texarkana and supporting his fellow firefighters has left a lasting impact.

Hunter, thank you for your years of dedication. You will always be part of the Texarkana Fire family. We wish you continued success in your new department.

Thanks to the fast response time of our crews and the training they consistently put in, the situation was quickly brought under control before it could grow any further.

Because of the dedication, preparation, and teamwork of our firefighters, what could have been a major incident was stopped early, protecting property and keeping our community safe.

This is a great reminder that the hours spent training and preparing truly matter when seconds count. We’re proud of the team who serve and protect our community every day.
