A 17-year-old suspect is in custody after leading law enforcement on a pursuit that began in Arkansas and ended in Texas.

An Arkansas State Police Trooper attempted to stop a stolen red Chevrolet pickup truck in Texarkana, Arkansas, but the driver immediately fled when the trooper activated his emergency lights. The pursuit continued into Texas at a high rate of speed before the trooper performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver on West 11th Street between Oak and Elm Streets. Despite now being pinned against the curb by the trooper's patrol vehicle, the driver attempted to escape by putting the truck in reverse. When that didn't work, he jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

After employees at the Texarkana, Texas City Garage reported seeing the suspect running south along the creek behind the facility, we established a perimeter and began searching the area. A short time later, another city employee alerted Officer Brent Hobbs that he had just seen the suspect walking east on West 9th Street near Main Street.

Officer Hobbs located the guy, who ignored commands to stop and attempted to walk away. Hobbs caught up with him and took him into custody. The Arkansas State Trooper subsequently arrived and positively identified him as the driver who had fled from the stolen truck.

Quantez Jefferson was arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Evading Arrest. He was booked into the Bi-State Jail, and his bond was later set at $28,000.

Around 3:00 this afternoon, officers and firefighters were called to the Texarkana Public Library after a woman told staff she had placed a bomb inside the building.

The library was quickly evacuated while emergency crews checked the building and surrounding area. After a thorough search, nothing was found.

The woman, identified as 56-year-old Becky Clizzie, was still on scene when officers arrived. She was taken into custody and charged with False Alarm or Report, then booked into the Bi-State Jail.

Thankfully, it turned out to be nothing, but it did lead to a full emergency response and temporary disruption at the library. Not cool at all...

Joseph Smolrez saw an Amazon package on a Wyatt Lane porch Sunday and apparently decided to conduct an impromptu product review.

A homeowner received a doorbell camera notification and watched as a shirtless man walked up to the front porch, picked up the package, and tore it open. However, once he realized the package contained makeup, he evidently decided it wasn't his color and put it back in the box.

The homeowner called police, and officers quickly arrived and located Smolrez nearby. He was arrested for Theft of Mail, and his bond was later set at $3,000.

The lesson here is, if you're tempted to open someone else's Amazon package, remember that the surprise inside might be disappointing - but the trip to jail, $3,000 bond, and court date are practically guaranteed.

We were called to CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital Thursday evening after a 3 month old baby girl's mother brought her in with a critical head injury. Doctors determined the baby had suffered a skull fracture, and she was airlifted to Arkansas Children's Hospital that night for treatment.

Detective Seth Mahar and Detective Sergeant Brad Thacker immediately began investigating and determined the injuries occurred while the baby was under the sole care of her mother's 22 year old boyfriend, Michael Cridell Jr.

Cridell was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury. He was booked into the Bi-State Jail, where his bond was set at $500,000.

The baby remains hospitalized and is currently in serious but stable condition.

A 51-year-old Texarkana man was arrested Friday afternoon on a charge of Indecent Assault following an investigation by the Texarkana Texas Police Department.

The investigation began after a report was made in May alleging that Jason Williams had made inappropriate comments to a teenage female employee at his business. Following that incident, the employee's parent shared details of the allegation on social media. Several women subsequently commented that they had experienced inappropriate behavior from Williams in the past.

Detective Lauren Freeman contacted most of the individuals who came forward. During the investigation, an 18-year-old woman reported that while working for Williams in August 2025, Williams pulled down her shirt and bra, exposing her breast. She told investigators that she immediately told him to stop and slapped him in response. She also reported the incident to several people at the business before quitting her job because of what had occurred. Although she did not report the incident to police at the time, she later provided details to Detective Freeman during the investigation.

Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, Detective Freeman obtained an arrest warrant charging Williams with Indecent Assault.

Williams was stopped by an officer Friday while driving, and the warrant was served. He was transported to the Bi-State Jail, where he was booked on the charge.

Williams was released Saturday after posting a $50,000 bond.
