A Triple Crown achievement for our Finance Department 🏆🏆🏆

We’re proud to announce that the City of Texarkana, Texas Finance Department has been named a Triple Crown Winner by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA)! Texarkana is one of just 441 governments to receive the Triple Crown designation earlier this year.

This recognition is awarded to governments that earn all three of GFOA’s major awards for financial reporting, budget presentation and public financial reporting, each requiring organizations to meet high standards for transparency and effectively communicating their financial story.

Congratulations to CFO Kristin Peeples and the entire Finance Department for their hard work and commitment to responsible, transparent financial reporting for our community. 👏

There were a number of 9/11 remembrance ceremonies across our community today as Texarkana came together to honor the lives lost 25 years ago.

Here are a few photos from today’s ceremonies at Red River Army Depot and the Texarkana Convention Center along with a few from earlier this summer when Texarkana was honored to host the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Steel Across America tour.

Thank you to our first responders, service members and everyone across our community who continues to honor the sacrifice and service we remember from September 11, 2001.

As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11 as a nation tomorrow, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation’s Steel Across America tour is a powerful reminder of the sacrifice and service we honor and remember.

One of our summer interns, Derek Murphy Jr., pictured on the far left, sent these photos from an event in Washington, D.C. in front of a truck carrying a steel beam from the World Trade Center. The truck was proudly made right here in Texarkana, Texas by Ledwell & Son Enterprises, Inc.

Texarkana was honored to be one of the stops on this national tour. Thank you to the Ledwell family, Tunnel to Towers, and everyone who supported this project and helped bring the tour to our community.

As we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, we also honor the first responders, service members and families whose sacrifice and service continue to inspire us 25 years later.

Excited to see Texarkana featured in the August 2026 national newsletter of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812.

The article highlights the recent dedication of the Freeman Custis Red River Expedition historical marker and recognizes the significance of the 1806 expedition commissioned by President Thomas Jefferson.

Thank you to Mayor Bob Bruggeman, Matt Solomon, and everyone who helped make the marker and dedication possible. Their efforts are helping preserve and share an important part of Texarkana’s regional and national history.

Heads Up TXK! 🚧🦺

Our Public Works crews are tackling drainage improvements on Leggett Drive to help keep water moving where it should and better protect our streets and neighborhoods during heavy rain. This project is expected to last until September 3rd!

A lot of the work that keeps our city running may not always be in the spotlight, but it makes a big difference. We appreciate our hardworking men and women for putting in the work, especially in this Texas heat, to keep Texarkana moving forward! 💪

A big THANK YOU to the Texas High School football team and coaches for cleaning up the Rosehill community today, the neighborhood where each of their home games are played.

For the past 10 years, THS football teams have cleaned the Rosehill area before the season begins. Their hard work made an immediate impact helping close three Code Enforcement cases today.

Thank you for giving back to the community and continuing this great tradition of service.

One house. One property. One neighborhood at a time. 👏🏼

We’re proud to highlight some of the quiet work happening behind the scenes every day in Texarkana. Our Code Enforcement team works alongside residents and property owners to address concerns, find solutions, and strengthen our neighborhoods.

It’s not always work that gets noticed, but its impact that can be seen throughout our community. Thank you to our Code Enforcement Officers for helping make Texarkana a better place to call home!
