Congratulations to our BHU Program Manager, Katie, for earning her LICSW!
Please join us in congratulating Katie Twomey, Clinician for the Tewksbury Police Department’s Behavioral Health Unit, on a tremendous professional achievement. Katie recently passed the ASWB Clinical Social Work Exam, earning her Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) credential — the highest level of licensure in the social work profession.
Since November 2024, Katie has served as the Program Manager for the Behavioral Health Unit Police Collaborative and as the Town of Tewksbury’s co-response clinician, working side-by-side with our officers to support individuals and families facing behavioral health challenges. Achieving LICSW licensure requires years of education, thousands of hours of supervised clinical experience, and a deep commitment to helping others. We are proud to have Katie as part of our team and grateful for the compassion, professionalism, and expertise she brings to our community every day.
Pictured with Katie are Behavioral Health Unit Intern Lily and Detective Sergeant Shane Gallagher, who provided Katie with a ride-along when she was first exploring a career with the department. Katie has shared that his approach to policing and working with the community played a meaningful role in her decision to join the Tewksbury Police Department.
