Shortly before 2:00 a.m. this morning, our volunteers were dispatched at the request of the Harwinton Fire Department to assist with a 2nd alarm commercial structure fire as a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). RIT crews are specially assigned to stand by for firefighter emergencies, providing immediate rescue assistance for any firefighter who becomes injured, trapped, or disoriented while operating inside a structure fire.

Engine 5 and our support truck responded with personnel and, upon arrival, were reassigned to interior fire attack operations alongside crews already on scene. Our members assisted with fire suppression efforts, overhaul, and salvage operations to help bring the incident under control and protect property from further damage.

After several hours operating on scene, all units returned to service shortly before 4:00 a.m.

We’re always proud to assist our neighboring departments with professionalism and teamwork.

Today, the members of the Terryville Fire Department would like to wish a very Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms in our community and beyond.

Mothers are the backbone of so many families, always giving their time, love, strength, and support without asking for anything in return. Behind many firefighters, first responders, and community members is a mom who helped shape who they are today.

We especially want to thank the mothers who support those who serve, the moms working on the front lines themselves, and the women who somehow balance family, work, and caring for others every day. Your sacrifices never go unnoticed.

From our firehouse family to yours, thank you for everything you do, and we hope you have a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved Mother’s Day.
