Today the Terrytown Fire Department along with the Fire Prevention division held an apparatus demonstration and fire safety class for the Muslim Academy school on Reality Drive in Terrytown.

It was eagerly anticipated and attended by the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classes. They learned about exit drills in the home, how to safely escape a fire by crawling below the smoke, and what types of tools are not to be played with, like cigarette lighters.

The kids enjoyed participating in the Stop, Drop, Roll, and cover your face exercise that taught them what to do if their clothes caught on fire. they were amazed at the apparatus demonstration when water was flowed from the deck nozzle and shot across the street.

It was attended by 60 children and 8 adult teachers.
