PUBLIC SAFETY ALERT

The City of Terrell Hills Police Department is investigating several vehicle burglaries that occurred overnight in the Morningside, Eventide, and surrounding areas.

Residents should be especially aware that taillights were stolen from two vehicles during these incidents. Ford F-150 trucks and other pickups equipped with higher-end LED taillights may be targeted because the taillights can be removed quickly and have significant resale value.

ADDITIONAL SECURITY MEASURES FOR FORD F-150 OWNERS

Owners may consider taking additional physical security measures to make taillight theft more difficult:

• Install anti-theft security screws or blocking brackets over the taillight mounting bolts. These measures can increase the time and effort required to remove the taillights.
• Adjust interior door lock pins/knobs so they sit as low and flush as practical with the door panel. This may make it more difficult for someone to manipulate the lock from outside the vehicle.
While these measures cannot guarantee that a theft will be prevented, they may help make your vehicle a less attractive target.

VEHICLE CRIME PREVENTION TIPS

• Lock your vehicle and make sure all doors are secured.
• Remove valuables, fi****ms, garage door openers, keys, and other important items from your vehicle.
• If possible, park inside a garage or in a well-lit area.
• Pickup truck owners should check their taillights and surrounding areas for signs of tampering.
• If you have exterior security cameras, review overnight footage for suspicious persons or vehicles.
• Report suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity to the Terrell Hills Police Department.

Our officers were actively working in the area during these incidents and attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle believed to be associated with the burglaries. The investigation remains ongoing.

Please stay alert, look out for your neighbors, and help us keep Terrell Hills safe.

The Terrell Hills Police Department is advising residents of recent overnight vehicle burglaries in our city. In addition, thieves have specifically targeted Ford F-150 trucks by stealing their tail lights, which can be removed quickly and resold for profit.

We encourage all residents to remain vigilant and take proactive steps to reduce the risk of becoming a victim. Always lock your vehicle, even when it is parked at home. Never leave your keys or key fob inside your vehicle, and remove any valuables from plain sight. If possible, park your vehicle inside a garage or in a well-lit area, ensure your exterior lights are on, and verify that your security cameras are functioning properly.

If you observe suspicious activity, especially during the overnight hours, do not confront the individuals. Instead, call the Terrell Hills Police Department immediately so officers can respond and investigate. By taking a few simple precautions and promptly reporting suspicious behavior, we can work together to help prevent crime and keep our community safe.

Congratulations to Lieutenant Michael Guttierrez on his graduation from the Law Enforcement Institute of Texas (LEMIT) Leadership Command College (LCC), Class 104!

The Leadership Command College (LCC) is the premier executive development program of the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT), widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive law enforcement leadership programs in the nation and often compared to the FBI National Academy. This nine-week, multi-module program, completed over a two-year period, equips law enforcement executives with advanced knowledge, strategic insight, and leadership competencies essential for effective command in today’s complex policing environment. Conducted at Texas A&M University, Texas Woman’s University, and Sam Houston State University, each module builds on the strengths of its host institution: leadership and organizational management at Texas A&M; the political, legal, and social dynamics of policing with an emphasis on executive wellness at Texas Woman’s University; and advanced law enforcement administration at Sam Houston State University, concluding with program graduation. Participants also develop a Leadership Portfolio that promotes meaningful reflection and demonstrates ongoing leadership growth across 16 integrated components, along with a Leadership White Paper (LWP) that applies research and analysis to real-world command and policy challenges.
