🎵School's out for summer...🎶

What better way to celebrate the end of the school year than with a Foam Homies-Indiana’s Foam Party Pros Foam Party at the Library!? Kick off summer by signing up for Summer Reading — which you can already do at vigo.beanstack.org — grabbing a new book, and diving into a massive pool of foam! 🫧We'll even have an opportunity to create your own cave paintings! 🖌️

Please wear quick-drying, comfortable clothes. The foam is hypoallergenic and dye-free. Toddlers ages 3 and under will have a separate play area from older children.

Ages 12–18: Try one of the world’s oldest art forms at Make Your Own Petroglyphs. Carve your own petroglyph in clay, then make it stand out with paint. Once your artwork is complete, take it home with you or leave it to decorate the Teen Space.

The program has a limited number of seats available. Please register each attendee individually. If this event has reached maximum capacity, non-registrants may be turned away on the day of the event. Register at vigolibrary.org/events.

We have an important notice about an upcoming change at the Vigo County Public Library’s 12 Points Branch.

Beginning Saturday, May 30, the 12 Points Branch will change its Saturday hours from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. to 9 a.m.–5 p.m. This updated schedule will allow the Library to better serve our customers.

What do you think a bin full of books weighs? 50 pounds? 100 pounds? 900 pounds?!

Yeah, we actually don't know either, but we know it's heavy!

That's why we're so excited about our new Book Bin Driver! Designed and built by Kayla Beiner and Joey Denison — students from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology part of the Make it Happen crew, and future exceptional engineers — this driver makes navigating the book bin a breeze! Check out the video of Lending Clerk Alex trying it out.

Ages 0–15: Start the summer with a splash at the 2026 Summer Reading Kick-Off! Play in the blast from the Foam Homies’ foam cannon, toss around beach balls, and dance to the music. Step into a prehistoric cave to create your own rock art using paint sticks and crayons, then head back out to the foam. Before the party ends, sign up for Summer Reading 2026, and select a new book to take home.

Day 1, West Branch

I am Skelly, VCPL's Official Fossil, and this Summer Reading, I will be unearthing everything the Library has to offer to intrepid explorers, such as myself.

Today, I began my adventures at our West Branch, where I was greeted by the lovely Assistant Librarian Shelley. She informed me that Librarian Beth had made a wonderous discovery: paintings-in-progress had been found on the windows! How exciting! I made my way to Beth to see for myself; she was still unearthing them, but that Long Neck was looking quite marvelous! Keep that brush going, Beth!

Satisfied with the new discoveries, I made my way back to the desk, where West Branch Manager Luke signed me up for Summer Reading! How kind! Are you signed up for Summer Reading, yet? Do so posthaste at vigo.beanstack.org and ready yourselves to start logging your readings and activities on May 29!
