Today, we remember the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our nation.

As Racers took on the Murph Challenge, every step, every rep, and every moment of perseverance carried deeper meaning. Our freedoms were secured through extraordinary sacrifice. What we experienced as a physical test reflects only a fraction of the courage and commitment shown by those who never returned home.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a time to honor the fallen, reflect on their legacy, and ensure their sacrifice is never forgotten.

As proud members of this community, the Airmen of the 181st Intelligence Wing contribute through both our economic impact and our volunteer service across Indiana. We’re especially grateful to the West Central Indiana Defense Network for pursuing the economic impact study and advocating our mission. Their support, along with that of our many community partners, strengthens our ability to serve Indiana and advance the state and global missions that keep our nation secure.

Amazing event opening performances by our Racers during Military Night at the Fishers Event Center!

Senior Airman Kylie Jones, sang the National Anthem, our 181st Base Honor Guard presented the colors with professionalism, and our recruiters connected with fans throughout the arena to share what the Air National Guard is all about.

We appreciate the opportunity to represent our service alongside such an incredible community.

The 181st Intelligence Wing hosted the second grade students from Riley Elementary School to learn about the Air National Guard and speak with our Racers. They interacted with stations from the 19th CERFP, 181st Civil Engineering Squadron, 181st Security Forces Squadron and 113th Contingency Response Squadron.

The 19th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Enhanced Response Force Package rotated students through hands‑on stations covering CPR, first-aid bandaging, and METIman training with realistic breath sounds, movement, and pulse checks, followed by a demonstration of our CBRNE gear and protective suits. Afterward, the classes split into four teams for a relay race designed to highlight teamwork: one student suited up in protective gear with assistance, another acted as the medic with a bump helmet and full aid bag, a third performed one round of CPR, and the final teammate applied a first-aid bandage before the group returned to the start to remove all equipment. The event emphasized how every role matters in a real-world response. Each student left with a goodie bag, stickers, and an Honorary Air Force Medic Certificate from the 181st MDG Det 1 (CERFP).

The 181st SFS and 113th CRS showcased a range of operational gear including helmets, plate carriers, battle belts, rucksacks, radios, weapons, and domestic operations equipment. They walked the students through how each piece of equipment is used, discussed their roles in the Air National Guard, and emphasized weapon safety. After a round of student questions, Airmen invited the classes to handle and explore the field equipment up close, continuing to engage and educate as students interacted with the gear.

The 181st CES gave an explanation of what civil engineering in the Air Force is before giving them an up‑close look at two of their heavy equipment vehicles. Airmen explained how CE Airmen support missions across the Air Force, then walked students through the controls and functions of each vehicle as they climbed in and out of the equipment.

Airmen from the 113th Contingency Response Squadron and 181st Medical Group marked and transitioned landing zones with support from a UH-60 Black Hawk crewed by the 38th Combat Aviation Brigade in a seamless joint force training operation. The Airmen practiced "hot loading" (the process of loading passengers, patients, or cargo while the engine is running and the rotor blades are turning) and offloading for simulated hostile and unfamiliar environments. They also utilized smoke and communication tools to guide the helicopter to suitable landing locations. These skills are imperative when contingency response teams are required to establish temporary bases domestically or overseas.

The 181st Contingency Response Squadron sharpened their skills on the range at Camp Atterbury. Over 5600 rounds of 9mm ammunition were fired through M18 Sig Sauer handguns, followed by Airmen practicing their transitions to their M4A1 carbine rifles. This repetition helps hone the weapons proficiency skills essential for establishing and securing airfields in any environment.

Contingency response units are trained to quickly establish and operate airfields to include its security, airfield management, cargo movement and more. The 113th CRS is committed to excellence in every phase of airfield operations, no matter the location or conditions.
