Today, community leaders, tourism partners, businesses, and stakeholders gathered at the Terre Haute Convention Center for the 2026 Terre Haute Tourism Update — an America 250 themed Stars & Stripes in Terredise event. 🇺🇸
Tourism continues to be a major economic driver for Vigo County:
📍$300.5 million in annual visitor spending
📍4,160 tourism-supported jobs
📍Tourism ranks as Vigo County’s 6th largest industry
📍Terre Haute ranks 10th in Indiana for tourism revenues
Destination momentum continues to grow with 1.7 million overnight visitor nights annually. The LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course alone generates more than $10 million in economic impact and attracts more than 100,000 visitors annually to the community.
The event also welcomed special guest speakers to share their state-wide perspectives on tourism and Terre Haute’s position:
⭐️Jon Ford, Director, Indiana Office of Energy Development and Director of the Wabash River Regional Development Authority
⭐️Noelle Szydlyk, Director of Sports Tourism & Event Planning at Visit Indiana
⭐️Jan Hoffman, Associate Publisher of Travel Indiana
Hosted by the Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau, this annual update also serves as an action step of the See You in Terre Haute Community Plan, bringing together partners committed to strengthening Vigo County’s visitor economy and destination future. Karen Dyer, Executive Director of the Terre Haute CVB, and Jess Crawford, VP of Strategic Marketing for the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, serve as co-chairs of the Community Image & Identity pillar of the plan.
A huge thank you to all those in Vigo County’s tourism industry who help make Terredise 🦩a destination people want to visit, experience, and return to.
