For some of us pride takes on a different meaning.

One of joy and one of pain.

One of hope and perseverance.

Some of us remember the horrifying actions that led to some of the legislation that is currently being dismantled throughout the country.

Two of these specific events that will be forever burned into my memory are the murders of Matthew Shepard and Brandon Teena.

Matthew Shepard’s mother has spent her life fighting for legislation that would prevent the horrors that happened to her child and as an LGBTQ+ advocate.

We cannot let the work of those that came before us be extinguished through hate. Love is stronger and it always will be.

Now is not a time for hiding, but for rising up.

Hate crimes are still happening today.

While we are celebrating, do not forget the people that have suffered and lost their lives in the struggle.

A good friend of mine told me that in order to fight fascism we must have joy.

Let’s be fierce and joyful!

There are many things we can discuss with our politicians but one of the biggest ones right now should be are you for the American people or the Isr@eli government?

These are not entertwined and our militaries should not be either.

Our military does not serve Isr@el. It serves the interests of the American people.

Our Congresspeople and Senators need a refresher course on who they pledge an allegiance to when they take office.

Thank you to everyone that followed me, supported me, and voted for me.

I joined this race to fight for disability rights and to encourage other normal working class people to run in these races.

I feel that this race was a success for me because I accomplished what I set out to do. I increased awareness, advocacy, started conversations in rooms between people that they would’ve never had, and built lasting friendships with amazing people.

I’m not quite sure what the future holds, but I know my advocacy is far from over.

I would encourage every person to run in a race in the future. We are all advocates in our own way and have invaluable lived experience.

My commitment remains the same. I serve my country, the constitution, and my people. I will help every progressive I can in these races. If you need my help reach out I will be there.

Now the real work begins.

Don’t forget it is also National MMIW2S Day.

Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Two-Spirit People are 10x more likely to be murdered than other parts of the population.

Often these crimes are perpetrated by people outside of their communities and tribal police struggle to hold them accountable.

We wear red today to represent the blood spilled in this crisis. It is also believed that red is the only color spirits can see.

If you are interested in supporting legislation that will help this movement you should contact your Congresspeople and ask them to support Savanna’s Act.

You can also vote in new Congresspeople that are interested in furthering this mission to help the MMIW2S Movement.

The Indiana Primary is today - May 5.
