It's time to bring back small town values. I was born at Scott & White here in Temple. This city is in my blood as a lifelong citizen. My father was in the Navy, so I only got to spend my summers growing up here working on the family farm. I learned the values of honor, integrity, hard work, and the value of treating people with respect until it's undeserved. I joined the Army in 1994 as a Spanish
Linguist and became a Counterintelligence Special Agent after the USS Cole bombing. I spent the rest of my career in counterterrorism and eventually retired honorably as a First Sergeant and Senior Counterintelligence Special Agent. I survived two combat deployments: Iraq (2003) and Afghanistan (2011), as well several deployments to South and Central America. After retiring, I start Open Carry Texas to fix our gun laws and make it easier for law-abiding Texans to carry legally in defense of self and others. In 2019, I decided to go to law school and graduated from the Appalachian School of Law (ASL) with honors in 2022. I have an Associates Degree in Pre-Law from Temple College, a Bachelor's Degree in History from Texas A&M: Central Texas, and a Juris Master and Juris Doctorate degree from ASL, graduating with honors at each. This year, I will have been married to my high school sweetheart for 30 years (together for 33). We have three amazing, talented, and successful kids and three rambunctious, energetic, and perfect grandsons. I am currently an innocent defense and civil rights attorney focused on the 1st and 2nd Amendment rights of Texans. Unfortunately, I've also seen how the "legal" system in Temple is nothing more than a good ol' boy system where the politically disfavored are targeted by city officials for discriminatory enforcement actions. Too many people have come to me for assistance because of corrupt politicians using code enforcement against citizens. I've also seen the city bend over backwards for billion dollar corporations while sticking its boot on the necks of small businesses, especially at our mall. Our politicians have sought invited an overwhelming amount of growth without having adequate infrastructure in place to handle it. Developers get everything they want from the city while the rest of the citizens deal with congestion, bad roads, expensive services, and higher taxes. It's time for a representative in our city government that can't/won't be bought by special interests. My sole and most important priority is to the citizens of Temple, to the Texans and United States Constitutions, and to God.
