We just wanted to share some of our sister departments upcoming fundraiser! This weekend is packed with loads of fun…

Tonight at 7pm-Tri-CommunityVFD will be hosting its annual (I think it’s like their 40th) BBQ supper & auction. Delicious food and awesome items to win. It’s usually a packed house so head over early to claim a good seat!

Tomorrow night starting at 5pm-Christianburg VFD will be serving up Chili Supper and auction. I heard they had over 180 items to auction off! I bet there will be several good deals to be won!

Then save the date for Ballplay VFD-May 2nd. They will be hosting a Fish Fry at the rescue squad! Check out this awesome hand-drawn fish done by one of their associate members, Lyla. She did an amazing job!

Go ahead and make plans to support these amazing departments! All money raised is to help us support you better.

Yesterday we celebrated 15 years of our Supper and Auction with our community. This fundraiser would not be possible without the support of our wonderful community. We would like to personally say thank you for standing behind us year after year.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to everyone who donated items for the auction. Because of your generosity and support, we were blessed to raise over $9,700 last night!

A special thank you to Kelly for making the sign and Francis for the beautiful cake.

We would also like to thank everyone who took the time to help work the fundraiser last night. It truly takes a village to pull something like this together, and we are so thankful that God has blessed us with such a wonderful village.

Volunteer firefighters play a vital role in keeping Monroe County and communities across Tennessee safe. Across the state, volunteer fire departments provide critical protection for both people and property, especially in rural areas like ours.

By the numbers in Tennessee:

- 54% of residents receive fire protection from departments that utilize volunteers.
- 95% of the state’s land area is covered by departments that rely on volunteer firefighters.
- Over 70% of Tennessee fire departments are staffed entirely by volunteers.
- 12,460 volunteer firefighters serve statewide, representing nearly 60% of Tennessee’s fire service.

Here in Monroe County, members of the Monroe County Firefighters Association respond to emergencies at all hours, often leaving their jobs, families, and daily routines to answer the call. Their commitment helps ensure that help is on the way when our communities need it most.

During Volunteer Firefighters Week, we encourage everyone to take a moment to recognize and thank the volunteer firefighters who dedicate their time and service to protecting Monroe County.

It’s hard to believe this is our 15th supper & auction!! We have loads of fun and the food is ALWAYS delicious!

If you have supported us in the past 14 years- Thank You for doing so! We couldn’t continue to do so without you.

If you have never come-WHY NOT?? I can promise you will eat until you’re full, laugh a lot, and you could win some awesome things if you’re the highest bidder. Please come join us this year and see what all the fuss is about.

We have items from local businesses, restaurants and some items from surrounding cities like Chattanooga, Athens, and Pigeon Forge.

Icy Conditions Persist at the Tellico Ranger District. Tellico River Road, North River Road, Turkey Creek Shortcut Road, and Beaverdam Bald Road are closed because of the icy conditions. Roads remain impassable.

WEATHER ADVISORY – FREEZE / ICE STORM CONDITIONS
The National Weather Service forecasts a significant winter storm for the immediate area Saturday and Sunday. Snow and ice accumulation is expected across the Cherokee National Forest.

In response to this storm, the Cherokee National Forest has closed access to some roads:
Unaka Ranger District - Hurricane Gap (FS 31)

Tellico Ranger District –
North River Rd (FS 217)
Big Cove/Whigg Meadow Rd (FS 61)
Beaverdam Bald Rd (FS 24)

Expect:
Icy roads and bridges
Downed trees and debris
Limited access on forest roads
Possible power outages
Delayed emergency response due to conditions

If you plan to visit, come prepared for self-sufficient travel and the possibility that you may not be able to safely return the same day. Conditions can change quickly and may remain hazardous even after precipitation ends. Be prepared for self-rescue
