6/12 Bottom Line Up Front: A weak cold front moving through the Ohio River valley will help spark scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon through the evening hours. A few storms may become severe, with damaging winds the main risk, and flash flooding and hail very low risks.

Low risk for flash flooding due to moist atmosphere.

Confidence:
Medium to High confidence in impacts
High confidence on timing (strongest storms late afternoon to early evening).
Low confidence on potential for significant downburst winds (80 mph).

6/7: Bottom Line Up Front:
Isolated storms will bring the risk of very heavy rainfall on Monday.
These storms will produce very heavy rain over a small area. While one county might receive 3+ inches of rain on Monday, a neighboring county might receive very little rain.
Highest risk for heavy rain is for locations west of I-75, but it cannot be ruled out for the entire region.
Expect heavy showers to move in Monday morning and remain in the region through the rest of the day.

What Has Changed:
Flash Flood Watch issued for Eastern Tennessee and southwest North Carolina from 7AM to 9PM EDT
Flash Flood Watch issued for far northeast Tennessee (due to later rainfall arrival time) from Noon through 9PM EDT

Confidence:
Low confidence on rainfall amounts
Medium confidence on impacts
Medium confidence on timing

6/1 Bottom Line Up Front:
A cluster of storms has formed over east central Missouri early this morning. This will become a bowing line of storms that will move southeast across Middle and East Tennessee this afternoon and evening.
Severe chances are primarily focused south of a line from Oneida to Knoxville to Gatlinburg, but especially over the southern plateau and southern valley. North of that line, severe chances seem unlikely.
The primary hazard type will be damaging wind gusts. However some large hail can't be ruled out either.
Flooding threats seem negligible due to expected forward speed of storms.

What Has Changed:
Confidence in timing and location of storms has increased.

Confidence:
Medium to High confidence in timing (arriving in the plateau between 3-5pm EDT)
Medium confidence in location of storms; primarily south of a line from Oneida to Knoxville to Gatlinburg.

5/29: Bottom Line Up Front:
Isolated Flash Flooding is possible this evening through Saturday afternoon for most of the area.

What Has Changed:
Confidence has increased in the possibility of isolated Flash Flooding.

Today, Thursday 5/29 Through Saturday 5/30
Isolated to scattered showers and storms will continue to increase in coverage and intensity this evening, with rainfall expected into Saturday.
Rain rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour can be expected at times, in the heaviest showers and storms.
Due to recent saturated soils and high rain rates, isolated flash flooding is possible for some areas, especially across areas that see repeated rounds of showers and storms.
Due to the scattered nature of the convection, it's hard to say where the highest rainfall amounts will occur. Some areas within the Flash Flood Watch will see several inches of rain, and some may see little to none. Areas that see training and repeated rounds of convection, could see upwards of 3 to 5 inches.

Confidence:
High for timing.
Low to moderate of at least one instance of isolated flash flooding.

5/22 - Bottom Line Up Front:
A few strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible mainly this afternoon and evening.
Primary threat will be gusty damaging winds. There is also a very low chance for an isolated weak, brief tornado.
There is a low risk for flash flooding today and tomorrow, mainly in urban and flood prone areas. Flash flooding potential may increase early next week as the wet pattern is expected to continue.

Confidence:
Low to Medium confidence for a few severe storms.

5/4 Bottom Line Up Front:
Numerous showers and storms are expected Wednesday through Thursday morning.
The severe threat is largely conditional and depends on whether or not we are able to develop surface based instability. See graphics below for the threats levels with each scenario.
Gusty winds from 30 to 40 mph can be expected at times from Tuesday through Thursday across the higher elevations of the east TN mountains, and possibly foothills.

A slight risk of excessive rainfall for flooding is in place across the southern and central TN Valley and southwest NC.

Confidence:
Moderate confidence in precipitation timing.
Moderate confidence in flood threat.
Low confidence in overall severe threat.
Moderate to high confidence in gusty mountain
