Officer Cody Lanagan recently took the oath of office as a patrol officer for the Tekamah Police Department.

Officer Lanagan has over 15 years of law enforcement experience, and over 20 years of Fire/EMS experience in both a paid and volunteer capacity.

When Cody is not busy at his full time police job, or busy being a dad, we look forward to him helping cover shifts in Tekamah. If you see him out on patrol some evening, stop and introduce yourself.

PSA: Tekamah Residents: To help dispel any rumors about law enforcement activity in Tekamah.

There was an incident that occurred outside of town earlier this afternoon. A situation stemming from that led to a large law enforcement presence in and around the courthouse. We had several streets temporarily closed for safety reasons.

The Tekamah Police Department, Burt County Sheriff’s Office, and numerous law enforcement partners from other agencies responded for assistance.

Although school was not in session T-H School Administration was contacted out of precaution due to the proximity of the scene.

The situation has since been resolved. There were no injuries reported, or use of force by anyone involved. We appreciate the immediate response from our mutual aid agencies. No further details will be available at this time.

Parents/guardians: Please know where kids are at and what they are doing. Aside from the obvious hardship/expense these actions cause for the victims, we are lucky no one has been seriously hurt, or worse, while out committing these acts.

If you are attending the Tekamah Sweet Corn festival downtown, or the car show in the park, have fun, stay cool and hydrated, and if your day includes adult beverages please consume responsibly and have a designated driver. Thank you for supporting our local events and activities.

Our annual Sweet Corn Festival is on August 2nd from 4-7pm!

Local organizations will provide food, drinks, desserts, and more for purchase. Come join the fun with a corn eating contest at 5:15pm, corn hole, DUNK TANK provided by TH-PTO, bounce house, and live music by Southland throughout the event. 🌽🌽🌽

The Tekamah Police Department offers our condolences to the family, friends, and police colleagues of Crete Police Chief Gary Young. Chief Young passed away yesterday leaving behind an over 40 year legacy of public service to the Crete Community.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Chief Young the last six years through the Nebraska Police Chiefs Association. I always enjoyed our conversations at meetings, and conferences. Recently Clint reached out to Chief Goeken and said he wanted to bring the hunter education program back to Tekamah. He asked if the police department had room and would be willing to host the class.
The Tekamah Police Department was honored to have the class held in our recently renovated meeting room. We were also able to donate gun safety locks to the class.
We would like to thank the instructors Clint and Alex for scheduling and instructing the class, and giving up their time to promote fi***rm safety and hunting ethics to the future hunters in Burt County and across the region. Also, to the parents for helping to get their children to the class.

Thank you to everyone that celebrated the 4th of July in Tekamah !! We had a phenomenal turn out.
To the Chamber of Commerce , Fire Dept, and other groups and committees that made the weekend a success, well done.
Also, thank you to our law enforcement partners with Burt County Sheriff’s Office and Oakland PD for helping us with traffic control during the parade. This allowed us to have traffic rerouted in all directions to ensure a safe event, and still have an Officer available to respond to emergency calls in the city.
