Happy Birthday to the American Legion Riders Chapter 221!

Today we celebrate the anniversary of our chapter being officially chartered on June 22, 2017.

For the past nine years, our Riders have proudly represented the American Legion through their dedication to veterans, active-duty military, our community, and the programs of the Legion Family. Whether supporting patriotic events, honoring our fallen heroes, assisting veterans in need, or participating in charitable causes, the Riders continue to embody the values of service, patriotism, and camaraderie.

Thank you to all past and present members who have helped make our chapter a success. Your commitment and devotion have made a lasting impact on Post 221 and the Tehachapi community.

On this Father’s Day, we proudly salute the fathers who have served both their families and our nation.

The strength, integrity, and selfless sacrifice that define fatherhood are the same values that define military service. Today, we honor all fathers, especially our veterans, whose dedication has helped shape future generations.

The American Legion Family of Tehachapi Post 221 extends our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and fellow Airmen affected by this tragic loss. We honor the service and sacrifice of these dedicated crew members and keep all who mourn them in our thoughts and prayers. May they rest in peace, and may their memory forever be a blessing.

The U.S. Air Force has officially identified the U.S. service members and civilians (Boeing employees) killed in B-52H crash on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Edwards Air Force Base.

3. Retired Lt. Col. Miles Middleton, 50, pilot, Boeing, Tehachapi, Calif.

4. Maj. Alexander Davis, 34, weapon systems officer, 419th Flight Test Squadron, Lancaster, Calif.

5. Maj. Robert Dee, 40, pilot, 419th Flight Test Squadron, Edwards AFB, Calif.

Today, we celebrate the birthday of the United States Army and honor the soldiers who have defended our nation since 1775.

From the Revolutionary War to today's missions around the globe, generations of Army soldiers have answered the call with an unwavering commitment to duty.

To all who have worn the Army uniform: thank you for your service and sacrifice.

On June 6, 1944, 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight N**i Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. General Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” More than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day’s end on June 6, the Allies gained a foot hold in Normandy. The D-Day cost was high – more than 9,000 Allied soldiers were killed or wounded – but more than 100,000 soldiers began the march across Europe to defeat Hi**er.
