As we are into tornado season a few reminders:
*Have a plan for shelter. Make a bag with flashlights, water, first aid, and a radio.
*Tornado sirens will sound for tornadoes, and high wind (80 mph). They will only sound once. NO ALL CLEAR SIREN WILL SOUND. If you hear a second or more siren, that means another tornado is in the area.
*There IS NO CITY SHELTER.
*There are numerous weather and TV app’s available to monitor
*Have a NOAA weather radio in your house and where you work.
*Severe weather broadcasts are made on the amateur radio vhf 2 meter band for our area. 145.190 and 146.625
*Don’t wait til the last minute to try and get things together to get to a shelter. Severe weather/tornadoes can be unpredictable.
*Social media is also used, but also have alternate means of monitoring weather.
