A North Carolina man is wanted in Tazewell for Grand Larceny. The Tazewell Virginia Police Department filed charges today for Christopher Neil Coughenour of Gold Hill, North Carolina for the theft of a 2011 Caterpillar 305.5 DCR excavator stolen from the 1500 block of Fairgrounds Road, Tazewell late Wednesday night, July 01, 2026. The accused is described as a male white, 6’04”, 160 lbs, brown eyes, and brown hair. Three other persons of interest have been identified as possibly conspirators. The investigation is on-going and additional charges are pending. The agency thanks Bluefield Police Department, Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Cabarrus County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Office for their assistance as well as information provided by the public.

Review the systematic assessment and management of seriously ill or injured pediatric patients and reinforce effective pediatric resuscitation skills.

🧒 PEARS – Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization
Designed to strengthen the ability of BLS providers to recognize pediatric emergencies, initiate appropriate interventions, and stabilize young patients.

👵 GEMS – Geriatric Education for EMS
Build a better understanding of the unique medical, social, and communication considerations involved in caring for older adults in the prehospital environment.

🚨 PHTLS – Prehospital Trauma Life Support
Develop and reinforce a systematic approach to trauma assessment and treatment, with an emphasis on critical thinking and delivering effective prehospital trauma care.

🫁 AMLS – Advanced Medical Life Support
Take a deeper look at assessing and managing complex medical patients using a systematic approach to differential diagnosis and clinical decision-making.

🛡️ TECC – Tactical Emergency Casualty Care
Learn principles for providing lifesaving care during high-threat and complex incidents where traditional EMS operations may need to be adapted to the environment.

👨‍👩‍👧 EPC – Emergency Pediatric Care
Expand your knowledge of pediatric assessment and emergency care, with an emphasis on recognizing and appropriately managing sick and injured children.

🚑 EVOS – Emergency Vehicle Operator Safety
Improve the knowledge and decision-making skills needed to operate emergency vehicles safely while reducing risks to crews, patients, and the public.

📋 DICO Officer Update
An update for Designated Infection Control Officers, covering information and responsibilities relevant to supporting EMS agencies and their personnel in infection-control matters.

⚠️ Important Course Information

ACLS and PALS participants: Required online pre-course work must be completed before class, and each student must bring their completed course certificate to class.

📚 Provider textbooks are not included. Participants must obtain the current required manuals.

💳 Completion Card Fees: AHA completion cards for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and PEARS are $10 per card. NAEMT completion cards for PHTLS, AMLS, TECC, GEMS, and EPC are $15 per card. DICO Officer Update registration and fees are paid directly to VAFR.

Job Description:
Performs business attraction, development, and retention efforts. Work collaboratively with stakeholders—ranging from local government leadership, business owners, and community leaders to create partnerships that benefit the local economy and community well-being.

Primary Responsibilities:
Attract and Retain Stakeholders. Develop a business recruitment and marketing package. Create database of available commercial properties throughout our locality. Collaborate with local real estate agents for potential entrepreneurs and maintain knowledge of real estate sites for sale or lease.
Strategic Planning. Develop, implement, and administer goals, objectives, and procedures for providing effective and efficient economic development services.
Community Engagement. Lead efforts in community engagement and public relations, including but not limited to; partnerships and collaborations, promotions for businesses, events, and initiatives.
Grant/Project Management. Research grant opportunities and administer grants when funding is available for projects.
Act as a liaison to various committees and external organizations.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business Administration or Marketing is required. Minimum of two years’ experience in community or economic development, public relations, marketing, and planning.

Core Capabilities:
Excellent communication and organization skills, able to work independently, effective in conflict resolution, project management, strong planning, implementation and collaboration skills.

Benefits:
