Remnants of Arthur are expected to pass through Alabama and Georgia late today and tonight. An approaching weak front from the north will spark scattered showers and thunderstorms today, with rain tonight from the passing tropical system.

Distinct scenario exists where no hazardous weather occurs in East Tennessee, SW VA, and SW NC, however a low risk for both hazardous severe and hazardous rainfall still remains.

Today, June 18
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms today and through early tonight. Low confidence on exact timing of storms.
Northern Tennessee and southwestern Virginia are most likely to have an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm wind, if any occurs.

Parallel moving storms in Kentucky are likely to stay out of northern Tennessee/southwestern Virginia, but any small movement to the south may bring them over portions of the region.

This would be one zone to watch for flash flood risk.

Remnants of Arthur to pass south of Tennessee. Exactly how close may determine how great the flood risk is, if any, for southeastern Tennessee and southwestern North Carolina.

Confidence:
Low confidence in timing and impacts.

Potential Weather Forecast Sunday June 14th 2026.

Isolated to scattered severe storms will be possible in East Tennessee tomorrow (Sunday June 14th) afternoon.

Damaging winds are the main concern. Tornadoes do not appear possible, and any hail that is seen will likely be small.

Some uncertainty in how morning time showers will affect the energy available to storms during the afternoon hours.

More morning showers and clouds, could lead to weaker storms and less coverage in the afternoon.

What Has Changed:
SPC upgraded the entire area to a Marginal risk, and the mountains of East Tennessee and far western North Carolina to a Slight risk area.

Confidence:
Medium to High confidence in the timing and presence of storms tomorrow afternoon.
Low confidence in the severity of storms due to uncertainty in how morning showers will affect available energy.
