North Tazewell Volunteer Fire Department continues to take steps to strengthen our readiness and better serve our community. Fire Chief Brad C. Lott, along with Gina Tye of the Office of Emergency Management, recently attended the TEEX 16-hour course, MGT-319: Medical Countermeasures: POD, Planning, and Response, at the East Tennessee Regional Health Office in Knoxville. This training focuses on planning, coordination, and response operations related to Points of Dispensing, which may be used during a public health emergency or large-scale community health crisis. While fire departments are often associated with fires, crashes, and emergency response, today’s fire service also plays an important role in community preparedness. Training opportunities like this help ensure our department is better prepared to assist local, county, and regional partners when our community needs us most. We are proud to continue investing time in training, planning, and preparedness for the citizens we serve.
