German Township Volunteer Fire Department

On June 10th 2026, shortly after 2PM, German Township was dispatched to US 31 & W 550 N for an Accident with injuries. Rescue 81 and Squad 81 responded. Units arrived on scene to find a pickup truck that had rear ended a flatbed semi-trailer. German Township units preformed a quick extrication to remove the patient from the pickup truck safely. Columbus Regional Health EMS was on scene and provided medical care to the patient. IU Health Lifeline was called to the scene. US 31 was shut down in both directions for a short period of time for IU Health to land safely.

🔴 Red Loop announcement! 🔴

Coming Soon! Stop # 604 at Heritage Heights will soon be a fixed route stop, meaning we will be there every hour, with no need to call to schedule a ride!

The Red Loop services Taylorsville at 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 5 pm, 6 pm, & 7 pm Monday - Friday, and 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, & 12 pm Saturday.

On or after Thursday, June 4, crews will begin bridge approach rehabilitation work on I-65 over U.S. 31 (Exit 76) in Taylorsville. Short-term single-lane closures will be used on northbound and southbound I-65. The southbound I-65 off-ramp to southbound U.S. 31 will also be closed while work is in progress. Update: All lanes are open!

Rescue 81 is currently on scene of an accident at the 79.5 mile marker N I65. Both northbound lanes are currently closed. We are working on reopening the lanes as quickly as possible.
