Fire claims poultry house --
Vashti and several other fire departments were dispatched to the scene of this chicken house fire, on property owned by Robin Rogers, at 7860 Vashti Road on Monday night, March 17, 2025. Firefighters battled the fire for over three hours. The house did not have a flock at the time but one was expected soon.

Thank you to all the mutual aid departments that responded to help with our chicken house fire last night. We appreciate everyone who volunteered their evening to help our department and community. VFR had three fire engines on scene within seven minutes after being dispatched, each staffed with volunteers. We take pride in our dedication to this great community we get to serve!

Members of the Vashti Community,

It is our honor and privilege to announce the accomplishment of achieving an ISO rating of 4/9E during our recent evaluation. This is the result of countless hours of training and ensuring we are prepared in the event of an emergency to respond quickly and efficiently. In between inspections, Vashti Fire Rescue became the second fire department in the county to become heavy rescue certified, which brought along many hours of training with it. We strive to serve our community in all capacities and the last few years have been evidence of that very mission. Thank you to Chief Fox and all of our members for helping us achieve this goal.

**All food is gone! We pray it be a blessing to those who received it!**

On Tuesday January 21st Second Harvest Food Bank of Western NC will be at our station handing out boxes of food. They will be here at noon and stay until the food runs out or around 2:30 pm. The box consists of mixed fresh produce and a dozen eggs. Anyone is welcome to receive food, there are no requirements to receive. The only thing they will ask is how many elders (60+) and how many children (18 and under) are in the household. They will be coming in a pick-up truck with enough to serve 80 households.
