We are proud to recognize School Resource Officer Chris McMichael for the immediate impact he has made since joining our team in January. From day one, Officer McMichael has been actively involved with our students, building positive relationships, providing mentorship, and helping create a safe and supportive school environment.

Recently, Officer McMichael was presented with a Life Saving Award after his quick actions and calm response helped save a student at TES who was choking during lunch. His professionalism, preparedness, and commitment to protecting our children made all the difference in a critical moment.

Officer McMichael exemplifies what it means to serve with dedication, compassion, and purpose. We are grateful to have him as part of our team and school community. Please join us in congratulating SRO Chris McMichael on this well-deserved recognition!

Happy School Resource Officer Appreciation Day!

Today we proudly recognize three incredible members of the Spencer County Schools family — Chris Rawlings, Ed Sedlock, and Chris McMichael.

Our SROs do far more than keep our buildings safe. They build relationships, mentor students, calm worries, share smiles, and create an environment where kids feel comfortable and protected every single day. Whether it’s greeting students in the morning, attending events, helping during tough moments, or simply being someone a child trusts — they are always there.

Our students know them, respect them, and most importantly… love them.
They are approachable, caring, and genuinely invested in the well-being of every child who walks through our doors.

Thank you for protecting our schools, supporting our staff, and caring for our kids like they’re your own. Spencer County is better because of you!
