We will never forget.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001. As a fire service family, we hold a profound and enduring connection to the events of that fateful morning.

We especially bow our heads in memory of the 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority police officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. They ran toward danger, climbing up while others were running down. Their legacy of unwavering dedication, selflessness, and courage guides our service every single day.

To the families who still carry the heavy weight of that loss, and to the first responders still suffering from the lasting effects of that day—our hearts are with you, today and always.

May we always carry forward their spirit of sacrifice, unity, and love for our neighbors.

This is a major milestone in their careers with the Taylors Fire Department. The hard work, dedication, discipline, and commitment to training have paid off.

The test may be passed in one day, but the preparation happens every day. You earn it through the work you put in when nobody is watching.

Did you know that we share a station with Greer FD? We believe in partnerships to serve our citizens. Our favorite part is the relationships built by Engine 83 and Engine 97 crews as they push each other in things like shift workouts.

On behalf of the Taylors Fire Department, I am honored to congratulate Travis Chillious on his promotion to Fire Specialist.

Earning the rank of Fire Specialist is a significant accomplishment and reflects Travis’s dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the fire service. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated the leadership, technical knowledge, and work ethic necessary to serve both our department and the Taylors community at the highest level.

As a department, we are committed to our mission to S.E.R.V.E. by providing:

Servant leadership

Extreme ownership

Represent (integrity, empathy, pride)

Value people

Expect (fire, victims, to make a difference)

Travis has consistently exemplified these values through his commitment to training, emergency scene leadership, mentoring fellow firefighters, and taking pride in serving others. I have no doubt he will continue to uphold these principles as he steps into his new role as Fire Specialist.

Please join me in congratulating Fire Specialist Travis Chillious on this well deserved promotion.

Congratulations, Fire Specialist Travis Chillious!
