They work together to manage the rivers, lakes and streams within the watershed. Hard copies of the attached are available at the front counters or atriums of the Department of Public Works, City Hall Welcome Center, Clerk's Office, Building Department, Assessor's Office, and the Cashier's counter. CITY COUNCIL AT SENIOR CENTER: The next two meetings of the Taylor City Council – today, June 16 and again on July 7 – will be held at the William Ford Senior Activities Center. The senior center is located at 6750 Troy, north of Ecorse Road. The council meetings will continue to begin at 6:30 p.m. and remain open to the public.
Council meetings will take place in the main banquet room, which offers ample seating for all attendees. Please enter through the main entrance on the east side of the building (Troy Street side), as this entrance features an ADA-compliant door system and provides the best access for the public. City staff will be onsite beginning at 5:30 p.m., one hour before the meeting start time, to ensure the building is open and accessible.
The heating and cooling system in City Hall is being replaced, and much of that construction is taking place in the Council Chambers.
Because of this shift, these council meetings will NOT be cablecast live on Wow and Comcast.
The livestream feed will shift to YouTube. When you go to our YouTube page, the City logo will be circled in red, with the word “live” under it. The top feed will also be the live stream.
The meeting will be re-cablecast on the government access channels of Comcast and Wow and will be housed in its usual location on the city’s website at cityoftaylor.com.
NOTE: Monday evening council study sessions will continue to be held at City Hall in the study session room.

CELEBRATING THE ONE STAR BAR: The City of Taylor, Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber and officials from Wayne County took time Friday (June 12) to celebrate the grand opening of the One Star Bar, 20130 Goddard. The location was formerly McGuckin’s. Owner Matt Taylor and his group targeted the small bar as a throwback to neighborhood taverns of the past. He explained that many small taverns have been gobbled up by larger corporations, which quickly take away their homey feel. Nothing like that takes place at the One Star, which features tons of welcoming features from a wide range of food and drink, along with an upbeat atmosphere. It’s comfortable and clean. City Clerk Cindy Bower represented the City of Taylor along with City Councilmen Bill Patts and Dan Wallace and various staff members. Monique Reister and Kate Currie attended for the SWCR and County Commissioner (and former city councilman) Alex Garza represented Wayne County. Garza and others have always been big fans of Big League Brews (20428 Ecorse Road), a highly successful tavern also owned by Matt Taylor. The One Star Bar is open 11-2 a.m. every day of the week. For more information, check out their page or email [email protected].

HEAT ADVISORY: A heat advisory is in effect for the Detroit area today, Wednesday, June 10. The heat index is expected to get into triple digits. The alert is for Wayne, Lenawee, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland and Washtenaw counties from noon until 8 p.m.
Be careful, because heat and humidity can cause illness.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned areas and out of the sun and check on relatives and neighbors if possible. Do not leave children or pets in unattended vehicles because car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Take extra precautions when outdoors. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening hours. Take action if you experience symptoms of heat exhaustion and/or heat stroke.
Storms are expected this evening and tonight. Tomorrow (June 11) is expected to be another hot day before the temperatures fall back into the 80s on Friday, June 12. The City of Taylor will continue to monitor the situation. Return here for updates.

CAN WE TURN UP THE AIR? It doesn’t come as a surprise to most City Hall visitors that the building has needed heating and cooling upgrades for some time. Replacing the HVAC system in not only City Hall but several other buildings – including the Lakes of Taylor Golf Course clubhouse – has been underway all summer. These photos show just some of the work being done in the large City Council Chambers, along with the reconstruction and upgrade of the HVAC housing unit next to City Hall in Priebe Plaza.
