We’re excited to introduce Tawas City Mayor, Jackie Masich! 🏛️

Since first being appointed to the DDA Board in August 2016, Jackie has generously dedicated her time and leadership to serving our community in a variety of roles. She stepped into the role of Mayor in October 2024 and was officially elected in November 2025.

🌟 Jackie also made history as the first woman mayor of Tawas City—a milestone that reflects her commitment to progress and community service.

THE BOIL WATER ADVISORY HAS BEEN LIFTED. Your water is safe to use immediately and there is no need to flush your water lines.

The areas that were impacted include all municipal water services south of the Tawas River to include West Lake Street (US-23), North and South Bay Drive, Michigan Avenue, Margo Street, Woodward Street, Nanette Avenue, Grove Street, Elms Avenue, Crocker Boulevard, Townline Road, and Hilltop Street.

We thank you for your cooperation over the last few days and appreciate your patience as staff ensured safe and reliable drinking water for our community.

If you have any questions, please contact Tawas City Hall at 989-362-8688 during the hours of 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Thursday, and 7:30 am to 1:00 pm on Friday.

BOIL WATER ADVISORY FOR PARTS OF TAWAS CITY

Areas affected are all municipal water services south of Gateway Park, including:

West Lake Street (US-23)
North and South Bay Drive
Michigan Avenue
Margo Street
Woodward Street
Nanette Avenue
Grove Street
Elms Avenue
Crocker Boulevard
Townline Road
Hilltop Street

What you should do until the advisory is lifted:

Bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least 1 minute before:

drinking
brushing teeth
making ice
cooking
washing fruits/vegetables
preparing baby formula

Use boiled or bottled water for pets as well.

Dishwashers are generally safe only if they reach a sanitizing temperature.

Assuming our water samples are clear, the advisory will be lifted at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

⚠️ Public Notice – Water Main Break ⚠️

A utility company working in the area bored through an 8-inch water main near the intersection of West Lake Street (US-23) and Ninth Avenue in Tawas City. As a result, the entire south end of town is currently without water service.

Members of the Tawas City Department of Public Works are making arrangements to repair the line and will work to restore service as quickly as possible.

At this time, there is NOT a boil water order in effect and we do not have an estimated restoration time. Please continue to monitor our page for updates as more information becomes available.

Please use caution when driving through the area while repair crews are on site. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding.
