Back in April, Sofia Herrera came forward with an idea. 🏀❤️

She shared that she and others in our community enjoy playing basketball and asked if we would consider adding two adjustable basketball goals and restriping the basketball court at the park.

Fast forward to today… it’s done! 🙌🏼

The court has been restriped, pickleball lines have been incorporated into the design, and two new adjustable basketball goals have been added.

Sofia plays travel basketball and is a true go-getter. She saw an opportunity to make the park better for the kids in our community, spoke up, and helped turn her idea into reality.

The total cost of the project was $14,500, funded through Lea County Commissioner District 1 DeeAnn Kimbro’s discretionary funds designated for Quality of Life projects. We are grateful for this investment in our community and, most importantly, in our kids.

This is what community involvement looks like. Your age doesn’t determine the impact you can make, your voice matters. Sofia, we are so proud of you! Thank you for believing in Tatum and reminding us that you are never too young to make a difference. Keep dreaming big and being the go-getter you are!

Working hard for Tatum! 💪

Public Works Director Joe and Maintenance Technician Clay have been hard at work this week cutting and mowing around town.

Our Maintenance Department doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves. Much of what they do happens behind the scenes, helping keep our water, sewer, parks, streets, and other town operations running.

We know how important this department is, and we are working to get our Maintenance Department fully staffed. That’s what we’re doing, adding more help and building a strong team to better serve Tatum.

Thank you, Joe and Clay, for your hard work, teamwork, and dedication to our community! 🛠️
