JOIN THE TOWN OF TATUM MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT
The Town of Tatum is seeking dependable, hardworking, and community-minded individuals to join our Maintenance Department. This position plays an important role in keeping our streets, water and sewer systems, parks, public facilities, and landfill clean, safe, and properly maintained.
✨JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES✨
WATER & SEWER
* Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water and sewer systems
* Respond to water leaks, sewer issues, and service calls
* Assist with utility repairs and maintenance
* Inspect and maintain related equipment and infrastructure
STREETS & INFRASTRUCTURE
* Perform general maintenance and repairs on Town streets
* Assist with pothole, drainage, alley, and right-of-way maintenance
* Maintain street signs and other public infrastructure
* Operate trucks, machinery, and equipment as assigned
PARKS & GROUNDS
* Mow, trim, and maintain Town parks & public areas
* Maintain playgrounds, restrooms, and park facilities
* Assist with repairs and upkeep of Town property
* Help prepare facilities for community events
LANDFILL OPERATIONS
* Assist with landfill operations on designated days the landfill is open
* Maintain landfill grounds and work areas
* Assist residents with proper disposal procedures
* Operate equipment as assigned
* Assist with routine cleanup and maintenance
TEAMWORK & COMMUNICATION
* Work under the direction of the Public Works Director
* Follow instructions and complete assigned duties in a timely and professional manner
* Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, Town staff, and residents
* Be a dependable and cooperative team player
* Communicate maintenance issues, safety concerns, and equipment problems promptly
* Be willing to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed
CERTIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* Must obtain all certifications required for the position within the required timeframe.
* Must maintain all required certifications and keep them current throughout employment.
* Must complete required training and continuing education as assigned.
* Failure to maintain required certifications may affect continued employment or assignment to certain duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
* High School Diploma or GED required
* Previous maintenance experience preferred
* Water/sewer, streets, parks, equipment, or landfill experience is a plus
* Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
* Ability to safely operate tools, vehicles, and equipment
* Dependable, responsible, and willing to work as part of a team
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
PAY
Compensation is based on experience and qualifications.
