This afternoon the TFD was dispatched to a local apartment complex for an odor of chemicals coming from an attached garage. The FD found several improperly stored paint & paint thinner cans. Members ventilated the garage & attached apartment. This is a reminder that improperly stored chemicals can lead to.Illness or spontaneous combustion.

Earlier today
Around 1:30 PM., the Tarrytown fire department was dispatched to the New York State thruway northbound, to assist the police department with a male, 20 feet down the embankment. Chief Tuohy made initial patient contact.
Followed by a additional dozen
firefighters all with various levels of rope rescue training assisted, in getting the patient in a Stokes basket and back up the embankment to road side level, where he was turned over to Tarrytown ambulance. A safe rescue was made and thank you to all who participated. Sorry, no pictures.

Tonight, members of tower ladder 78 and engine 80
practiced water flow operations through the tower ladder master stream. Drills like this are essential not only to keep our skills sharp, but to make sure everything on the truck is in good working order.

🔥🚗 Don't Leave Lithium-Ion Batteries in Hot Vehicles! 🚗🔥

Training in the fire service never ends. Tonight we went and practiced roof saw operations. We used a K-12 saw on a flat roof. We practice these techniques to provide ventilation during structure fires. A good night was had by all.
