Dear Parents/Guardians and Staff,

In recognition of the funeral services for Lola and King Scott, and to allow our students, families, and staff the opportunity to honor their memory and support one another during this difficult time, summer school classes will not be held on Monday, June 8, 2026.

The loss of these two young lives has deeply impacted our school community. Our thoughts and prayers remain with their family, friends, classmates, and all those affected by this tragedy.

We encourage those who wish to attend the funeral services or pay their respects to do so. Summer school classes will resume on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, following the regular schedule. Counseling for students and staff is available as needed.

Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and support as we come together as a school family during this time of mourning.

Sincerely,

Sherlene McDonald, Superintendent

It is with profound sadness that the Tarrant City Schools family share the heartbreaking loss of two of our students following a tragic accident this past weekend at Turkey Creek.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with the family, friends, classmates, and all who have been impacted by this tremendous loss. During this difficult time, we ask our community to keep this family in your hearts and respect their privacy as they grieve.

For those wishing to express their condolences, cards and letters to the families are being collected and may be dropped off at the Tarrant Intermediate School office. These messages of love and support will be shared with the family.

A family friend has established a GoFundMe to financially support the family during this difficult time.

We recognize that this tragedy affects our entire school community. Counselors will be available at Tarrant Elementary School and Tarrant Intermediate School to provide support for students, staff, and families as needed.

As a school family, we will lean on one another, offer support, and honor the memories of these precious students. Please continue to keep everyone affected in your thoughts and prayers.

This week has been filled with celebrations, hugs, and plenty of tears as we honor an incredible leader, mentor, and friend. After 10 years of dedicated service to Tarrant City Schools, Mr. Moore is beginning a well-earned retirement.

Throughout the years, Mr. Moore has made a lasting impact on countless students, families, colleagues, and the entire Tarrant community. His leadership, support, and genuine care for others have helped shape the culture of our schools in ways that will never be forgotten.

Yesterday marked a special moment as Mr. Moore took his final afternoon walk with students from TIS to TES as the TIS principal. While his daily walk may have come to an end, the impact he leaves behind will last a lifetime.

Thank you, Mr. Moore, for everything you have poured into TCS over the last decade. You will always be a Wildcat. πŸ’™πŸ’›
