The US Coast Guard Auxiliary operates in Safety and Security Patrols,
Search and Rescue, Mass Casualty or Disasters, Pollution Response & Patrols, Homeland Security, Recreational Boating Safety, Commercial Fishing and Vessel Exams, Platforms for Boarding Parties, Recruit for all service in the Coast Guard. Coast Guard Auxiliary also operates in any mission as directed by the Commandant of the U.S.

Our Mission is to promote and improve Recreational Boating Safety, to provide trained crews and facilities to augment the Coast Guard and enhance safety and security of our ports, waterways, and coastal regions, to support Coast Guard operational, administrative, and logistical requirements organization. The Auxiliary has units in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam.Under the direct authority of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security via the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, the Auxiliary's internally operating levels are broken down into four organizational levels: Flotilla, Division, District and National.

On Saturday, Jan 30, Flotilla 11-9 provided a table display at the Men’s Only Health Screening event at St. Ignatius Church. The display focused on safe boating and recruiting. Karen Jones and Steve Denhof were present to provide participants with information and guidance on safe boating and opportunities by joining the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Flotilla 11-9 Auxiliarists continue to serve by supporting various boating safety activities for the public. During the January Flotilla meeting at the Tarpon Springs Yacht Club, Flotilla Commander Ernest Cannon and Vice Commander Tom Luncher presented awards.

Flotilla Commander Ernest Cannon presented two certificates of achievement to Bob Gailey for 179 vessel examinations in 2025 and the "Century Club Award" for attaining more that 100 vessels.
