Tarpley Volunteer Fire Department Serving the Hondo Canyon since 1975 And to be an avenue for those residents to be able to contact us. Those who would like to reach us by phone may call.

This page is intended for the department to be able to keep the residents of Tarpley and the surrounding area up to date on current events, weather, fire department news, and fire safety information. However, be aware, since we are an all volunteer department, no one is regularly at the station every day. At 1031 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Medina to near Lacoste. Movement was west
at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of south central Texas, including the following counties, Bandera and Kendall.

* WHEN...Until 1230 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 922 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Boerne, Bandera, Walnut Grove, Nelson City, Welfare, Kreutzberg, Waring, Sisterdale, Kronkosky State Natural Area, Pipe Creek, Kendalia, Lakehills and Crown. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.

* Until 945 PM CDT.

* At 846 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Kendalia to near Bandera Falls, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... San Antonio, Boerne, Comfort, Bandera, Canyon Lake, Fair Oaks Ranch, Bulverde, Cross Mountain, Guadalupe River State Park, Walnut Grove, Kendalia, Bandera Falls, The Dominion, Sisterdale, Kreutzberg, Spring Branch, Pipe Creek, Welfare, Nelson City, and Waring.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

At 814 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Liberty Hill to near Bandera. Movement was east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

* WHAT...Flooding and flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
possible.

* WHERE...A portion of south central Texas, including the following
counties, Bandera, Bexar, Blanco, Burnet, Comal, Edwards,
Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, Llano, Medina, Real,
Travis, Uvalde, Val Verde and Williamson.

* WHEN...From 4 PM CDT this afternoon through Wednesday morning.

* IMPACTS...There is a potential for life threatening flooding
somewhere in the watch area. Excessive runoff may result in
flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and
flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their
banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.
Low-water crossings may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing high
rainfall rates which could quickly lead to flooding across
the watch area. Be especially cautious as creeks, streams,
and rivers may rise out of their banks quickly. Rainfall
amounts of 1 to 3 inches with isolated amounts up to 5 inches
are possible for the duration of the Flood Watch.

* WHEN...Through Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...There is a potential for life threatening flooding somewhere in the watch area. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded.
