A true piece of Tarboro history! 🌿

Did you know that North Carolina’s last original cotton press has stood right here in Tarboro since 1860? Once powered by mules and oxen to compress cotton bales, this remarkable landmark later found new life when local residents used it to crush fruit for cider and wine production.

While no longer in operation, the Cotton Press remains a fascinating reminder of the ingenuity, industry, and agricultural heritage that helped shape our community. Stop by and take a step back in time to experience a piece of Tarboro’s rich history for yourself!
