👏⚠️ Celebrating a Commitment to Safety ⚠️👏

Edgecombe-Martin County EMC proudly recognized Ethan Thomas as our 2025 Safety Employee of the Year during our annual Safety Luncheon held in April.

Ethan is known among his coworkers for his attention to detail, proactive mindset, and strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. Whether in the field or around the office, he consistently looks out for those around him and leads by example each day. His dedication helps reinforce the culture of safety that remains a top priority at our cooperative. 💙

We also celebrated employees reaching major safety milestones:
⭐ Tyler Perkins – 5 Years
⭐ Steve Lewis – 30 Years
⭐ Lisa Tolson – 35 Years

These milestones represent years of dedication, accountability, and commitment to doing the job safely and correctly. Every safe decision made helps protect our employees, our members, and the communities we serve.

At Edgecombe-Martin County EMC, safety is more than a policy — it’s a mindset.

Congratulations to Ethan and all of our safety milestone recipients! Thank you for setting the standard and for your continued commitment to safety each and every day. 👏

Edgecombe-Martin County EMC employees are proud to participate in the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina “Sport-A-Shirt” Day! By wearing these shirts, we’re helping support families with seriously ill or injured children receiving treatment in area hospitals.

The Ronald McDonald House provides a true “home away from home” for families during some of life’s toughest moments, and we are honored to support such an incredible cause. ❤️

⚡🌎 Bringing Power & Hope to Guatemala 🌎⚡

This spring, Edgecombe-Martin County EMC’s Sammy Clark joined 15 volunteer lineworkers from across North Carolina on a mission to bring electricity to the village of El Plan Nuevo Amanecer in Guatemala — for the very first time.

From framing poles to building more than three miles of line completely by hand, the team helped bring power to more than 50 homes, a school, two churches and the community’s only health clinic. 💡

“This project reflects the heart of the cooperative spirit — neighbors helping neighbors, no matter the distance,” said CEO Winston Howell. “We are incredibly proud of Sammy for using his skills to help bring electricity, opportunity and hope to families in Guatemala.”

This effort was part of the Brighter World Initiative, led by North Carolina’s electric cooperatives in partnership with NRECA International, helping bring first-time access to electricity to underserved communities around the world.

Electricity will now help improve education opportunities, increase safety after dark, support small businesses and create new opportunities for families throughout the village.

To celebrate the completion of the project, volunteers and community members gathered for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at the village school — marking a life-changing milestone for El Plan Nuevo Amanecer. ❤️🔌
