Dear TISA Community,

It is with deep sadness that I share that Paulina “Amber” McCabe passed away.

Amber served as TISA’s middle school math teacher from 2016–2022 and was one of the first instructors I had the privilege of hiring when we were building our school. She helped shape the spirit and culture of our school in meaningful ways.

Amber was vibrant, artistic, and had an incredible rapport with her students. She brought creativity into everything she did — from her love of origami and intricate paper art to the way she made mathematics come alive for middle schoolers. She believed students could find beauty and wonder even in numbers.

Today I was looking through photos of Amber with her students, including one of her creating a moving picture installation at Ziggy’s Frozen Yogurt. It was such a perfect reflection of who she was — imaginative, joyful, and deeply connected to the community around her.

Amber was only 36 years old. Her passing is a tremendous loss.

Please keep her family and loved ones in your thoughts. We will share information about services or ways to honor her memory as it becomes available.

Thank you for holding space for one another during this difficult time.

With appreciation,

Rich Greywolf
Director, TISA

WINTER WONDERLAND

4:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Bataan Hall

A Free Holiday Celebration

The Town of Taos Events presents a sparkling new holiday tradition, the first-ever Winter Wonderland, an enchanting indoor event inviting the entire community into a world of festive cheer, creativity, and joyful interaction. Held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Bataan Hall, this free event transforms the space into a twinkling holiday realm filled with craft stations, face painting, a festive photo booth, gift wrapping, giveaways, live performances, ornament decorating, temporary tattoos, and cozy storytime moments.

Children will enjoy creating ornaments, coloring pages, and handmade treasures perfect for gift-giving or decorating their tree, with friendly helpers and jolly elves guiding them through wrapping, labeling, and topping their creations with cheerful bows. Santa will be handing out special Santa Gift Bags to the first 600 children. Beloved characters including Cindy-Lou Who, Elsa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph, Snoopy, Stitch, and the Grinch will wander the hall spreading joy and posing for unforgettable holiday photos.

At 5:00 PM a special storytime reading will feature Mrs. Claus reading Pig the Elf and Do You Want to Build a Snowman?, at 6:10 PM Councilwoman Corilia Ortega sharing holiday greetings and reading Do Your Happy Dance!: Celebrate Wonderful You, and at 6:15 PM Mayor Pascualito Maestas offering warm wishes while reading Holiday Mischief with Stitch.

Jagger Ramirez Photography will generously be donating its time and talent to capture the magic with beautiful keepsake portraits. Shiphrah Campbell of Acutetremonts Face Painting will dazzle children with sparkling designs such as reindeer, snow princess crowns, gingerbread friends, Santa and elf hats, the Grinch, and more. She is donating her time and talent, and donations are kindly accepted.

The celebration will shimmer with holiday performances by Taos High School Choir (5:10–5:15 PM), Mariachi El Tigre (5:15–5:20 PM), the Fiestas de Taos Royal Court, and the 2025 Rodeo de Taos Queen (5:25 PM), Mariachi Paisanos de Taos (5:30–5:55 PM), Billy Archuleta, Soloist Extraordinaire (5:55–6:10 PM), and Mystic Dance (6:40–6:50 PM), with Ms. Amber from Twirl serving as the lively MC.

KTAOS 101.9FM will add to the festivities with giveaways, stickers, holiday hats, and cheerful DJ interactions throughout the evening.
Around 7:00 PM, the raffle drawings will take place. Every child in attendance will have the chance to win one of ten giant 8-foot Holiday Stockings filled with a fun assortment of toys. Winners are required to be present to claim their stocking. This magical opportunity is made possible by our generous Holiday Stocking Sponsors: AAA Home Care, ApexNetwork Physical Therapy, D.C.
