This is the final committee stop before SB17 moves to the full House floor for a final vote. If it passes there, it will go directly to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law.

This is our last opportunity to stop SB17!

📣 Contact Your Legislatures - What to Say
🗣️ What to Say:
When contacting legislators or providing testimony, keep it respectful, brief, and focused:
Ask them to OPPOSE SB 17
SB 17 places heavy new burdens on law-abiding firearm dealers without addressing criminal misuse.
The bill risks job losses, higher costs, and business closures for New Mexico small businesses.
Similar laws in other states have led to costly legal challenges paid for by taxpayers.
Public safety can be improved by enforcing existing laws, not by restricting lawful commerce and constitutional rights.

A simple message works:

“I respectfully ask you to oppose SB 17. This bill is unconstitutional and it harms lawful businesses, invites costly litigation, and does nothing to address violent crime.”

Contacting House Judiciary Committee members and continuing public engagement will be critical in the coming days.

Yesterday I almost became sick to my stomach as I watched the New Mexico House of Representatives pass HB9. A bill that will purposely kill about a 1000 jobs in New Mexico because the majority democrats hate Trump more than they love New Mexicans. It was sickening to me to watch representatives of the people cause their own constituents to lose their jobs. I thought we were here to create jobs and opportunities and protect our citizens from harm, not to cause it. Every vote to cause this harm was cast by a democrat, a few democrats voted against it, but it passed. I talked to one representative that voted for the bill and she said she had to after what happened in Minneapolis. We punished New Mexicans, that we represent for political reasons. Shameful. Absolutely disgusting.
There isn’t and wasn’t one person working at any of these facilities in New Mexico that had anything to do with what happened in Minneapolis.
