Local Emergency Planning Commission ensures and maintains the operations of the County Emergency Operations Center through on-going training programs. Provided by Federal Statute - Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), TITLE - III, 1986 Resolution No. 2005-13. Purpose - To minimize damage and loss of life resulting from natural or man-made disasters through careful planning and ide

ntification of natural hazards and hazardous materials, to provide the public with information regarding hazardous chemicals within the County and to assist local emergency management.

KCEC Activates Protective Devices in High-Risk Areas of its Service Territory. Expected Windy Weather in the Region: March 06, 2025

Today, March 06, 2025, Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC) will continue to monitor the winds and weather conditions in its service territory. KCEC does not plan to implement any power shutoffs at this time. However, the cooperative will activate protective devices to non-reclose status in high-risk areas of its service area until tomorrow morning. KCEC's service area is forecasted to experience wind gusts exceeding 40 mph.
