During Mental Health Awareness Month, we need to talk about something that often gets overlooked: men’s mental health.

In the U.S., men make up nearly 80% of su***de deaths.
Many never reach out for help—not because we don’t need it, but because we’ve been told to “be strong,” “man up,” or stay silent by other men that could’ve benefited from encouragement themselves.

So today we listen to Angelo McHorse, owner and co-founder of and “everyone’s favorite uncle” on all social media platforms to discover why he believes men find it difficult to reach out and what he believes needs to change.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to shine a light on something that affects us all, yet too often goes unspoken.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. It shapes how we think, feel, connect, and cope with life. When we talk about it openly, we break stigma, create understanding, and remind people they’re not alone.

Checking in, listening without judgment, and sharing resources can make a real difference. Sometimes the smallest conversation can be the first step toward healing.

Take a moment today to reach out—to a friend, a loved one, or even yourself. You never know who might need it.

Taos showed up in the most powerful way!

90 strong. Dancing with purpose. Moving for something bigger than ourselves.

Every step taken at Zumbathon 2026 was for survivors of sexual and domestic violence—because this work matters.
Awareness matters. Showing up matters.

When a community comes together like this, it sends a clear message: you are not alone, and support is here.

A heartfelt thank you to for hosting such an incredible space, and to for leading a team of extraordinary Zumba instructors who brought the energy, passion, and heart to every moment.

Thank you, Taos, for turning movement into meaning and standing with survivors.

Consent made simple!

Hey there, I'm Fabian the media coordinator here at the CAV and today, my niece and nephew helped me break down consent using the easy-to-remember F.R.I.E.S. framework:

F – Freely given (no pressure, no force)
R – Reversible (you can change your mind anytime)
I – Informed (you know exactly what you’re agreeing to)
E – Enthusiastic (it’s a clear, excited YES)
S – Specific (saying yes to one thing doesn’t mean yes to everything)

These are conversations we can start at any age—because understanding consent builds safer, stronger communities.

This is just one of many lessons offered through CAV’s Prevention Education Outreach Program. Find out more, link in bio!

Prevention starts before harm happens—and that’s why your support matters.

We’re proud to spotlight our sponsor, Taos Lifestyle, and grateful for owner, Mary Domito’s voice in this work. She shares why prevention education isn’t just important—it’s essential to building a safer, stronger community for everyone.

Because prevention education goes beyond the classroom—it means reaching our adults, too. It’s about building awareness, shifting culture, and giving our whole community the tools to recognize harm, support survivors, and prevent violence before it starts.

When you support CAV, you’re helping us reach people earlier, create change, and stop violence before it starts.

Thank you to for standing with survivors and investing in prevention.
