I’m looking for a couple volunteers willing to help me with the library.
I placed the library in Taneytown in front of affordable storage, but I had problems with it there.
#1 what I believed was the owner of affordable storage is actually just a individual renting the buildings and does not own the actual ground and he give me permission to place the library there but then a month later received a threatening phone call from a Mr. Hall who said he owned the property and rented the buildings out and I needed to remove my library. He told me the business owner of the Verizon store was complaining about my library. I explained to him I didn’t understand because I was given permission to put it there and was renting three storage units for books storage, mr. Hall responded he didn’t care and I needed to remove the library or he would file charges.
#2 I only had a lock on one of the units the other two I had not bought a lock for but halfway through January, the wife of the storage units busines rented out my two units to somebody else assuming they were not rented because it had no lock on them. then in February, the husband tried to bully me into paying for all three units claiming I was under contract, even though his wife had rented out my units to somebody else. Absolutely crazy.
#3 a group of local kids threw a bunch of the books out in the parking lot knocked books off the shelf, broke the glass in the door and busted the door frame all up. Oop
I honestly thought I was doing a good thing by bringing my library to Taneytown but apparently I’m gonna have the same issue. I had in Union Bridge, destruction of property by kids and adult who want to fight positive influences.
So I loaded up the library all the books and brought them back here to where I’m living.
I don’t know if I’m gonna continue or not . With my illness, losing my vision and all that’s happened in the past year. I just don’t think I have the heart for it anymore .
I just really thought what I’ve been trying to do for the past 10 years was a good positive thing and it was something that’s been very dear to my heart that I’ve enjoyed doing because of my giving nature , providing books free of charge working my butt off to find and supply books advertising spending money and I’ve never received one penny in donations , my back to school backpack program. It just seems like it’s all been in vain with more resistance from local community leaders instead of support.
So honestly, I think I’m just gonna disassemble the library because it’s damaged pretty good from the kids, destroying it. And thank you, Taneytown parents for raising destructive kids who don’t respect people or their property. single parents who allow the TV and video games to be the babysitter with no guidance or structure in their life.
So I have a lot of books and if anybody would like them to start or stock their own library, please get in touch with me.
Thanks Eric
