Are you a teen or young adult interested in earning $20/hr to hold your community's
ni****ne retailers accountable?

Join the Taneytown Police Department in performing ni****ne compliance checks!

In recent years the to***co industry has expanded products containing ni****ne and have disproportionately targeted youth. Compliance checks are conducted to ensure
vendors comply with existing laws.

The goal: reduce ni****ne sales to underage purchasers and hold Carroll County ni****ne vendors accountable.

Requirements:
🧍‍♂️ Be 16 - 20 years of age
🪪 Have a valid state license
🎭 Acting skills a plus
⚖️ Be willing to testify in court, if necessary
🕰️ Time commitment, flexible schedule

You will:
- Be paid $20/hr
- Be provided a meal
- Be properly trained
- Build relationships with community partners
- Become knowledgeable of to***co compliance procedure and relevant laws
- Receive service hours

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Memorial Day Parade 🇺🇸

Thankfully, the sun came out and so did the community. We loved seeing everyone in their red, white and blue (and a chicken?!).

We are grateful to have these moments where we can show gratitude and reflect on the sacrifices of the brave men and women who came before us.

We remember, and we will always will. 💙

🟢 PARADE DETOUR
- East Baltimore St at Trevainon Rd.
- East Baltimore St at Antrim Blvd.

⛔️ East Baltimore Street (Route 140) will be closed TODAY from 12:50pm until the conclusion of the parade. Side streets will be closed approximately an hour before the parade for barricade placement. Find alternative routes.

Grand & Chevro drive traffic will be directed by an officer.

All East and West bound traffic will be detoured on Trevanion road and Antrim Blvd.

On Saturday, Taneytown Police Department staff had a wonderful time at First Responders Day!

We saw many happy faces (young and old) enjoying the festivites. From interacting with fire apparatus, police cruisers, and ambulances, to exploring the drunk goggles obstacle course, and everything in between!

Attendees also enjoyed participating in a scavenger hunt Inside the museum, face painting, and of course, hot dogs, chips and drinks!

We want to thank everyone at the Taneytown History Museum, Taneytown Chamber of Commerce and Carroll County Department of Fire and EMS of Maryland for their dedication and commitment to our communiny.

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT - E BALTIMORE STREET ONE LANE 🚧

Tomorrow, May 20th at 9:00am, E Baltimore Street will be one lane in the downtown area due to utility work. Traffic will move with an alternating traffic pattern.

The area may experince power outages, including the traffic lights at the intersecton of route 140 and 194. The City Hall parking lot will be CLOSED.

Please plan for delays and use caution when traveling these roads tomorrow. Updates to follow.

5/19/26 at 10:00am - E Baltimore Street is one lane from Reindollar Street to Trevanion Road.

Traffic is moving with an alternating traffic pattern utilizing the west bound lane. There have been reported power outages in the area. Please slow down, and use caution.
