Sunapee Fire Department Conducting Annual Pump Testing in Sunapee Harbor
Today, Thursday, April 23, the Sunapee Fire Department will be conducting annual fire apparatus pump testing in the Sunapee Harbor area. Testing and certification services will be performed by Lakes Regions Fire Apparatus to ensure all department pumping equipment meets required performance and safety standards.
Pump testing is a critical part of fire apparatus maintenance and operational readiness. During the testing process, each fire truck’s pump is evaluated under a variety of operating conditions to confirm it can deliver the proper water flow and pressure needed during emergency incidents. This includes verifying suction capability, pressure consistency, valve operation, and overall pump reliability.
Routine pump certification helps ensure that when firefighters respond to structure fires, brush fires, vehicle fires, or other emergencies, their equipment will perform exactly as expected. Reliable pumping systems are essential for supplying handlines, master streams, tanker shuttle operations, and mutual aid incidents where dependable water movement can make a significant difference in operations.
The Sunapee Fire Department appreciates the community’s patience during today’s testing activities in the Harbor area. Residents and visitors may notice fire apparatus operating near the water, drafting hose setups, and temporary traffic impacts as crews complete this important annual maintenance process.
Maintaining equipment through regular inspections and testing is another way the Sunapee Fire Department remains prepared to serve and protect the community.
