This page is designed to present and demonstrate what the men and women of Tampa Fire Rescue encounter on a daily basis. TFR personnel work tirelessly to provide the utmost level of quality service, dedication and protection to the residents and visitors of the City of Tampa. Tampa Fire Rescue provides essential service in the areas of fire prevention, fire protection, fire suppression services an

d emergency medical services for the seriously ill and injured. Tampa Fire Rescue also provides hazardous materials response, aircraft rescue, marine firefighting and fire and life safety education to the public. The Fire Marshal's office, a division of Tampa Fire Rescue, investigates causes of fire, conducts building code reviews and enforces fire and life safety codes. The department is comprised of the Operations, Rescue, Communications, Prevention, and Administrative Divisions.

Special delivery! 👶☎️🍼

After 10 years behind the headset, our Dispatcher Michael V. can officially add a new milestone to his career… his first 9-1-1 baby delivery!

When the call came in, the baby was arriving earlier than expected and there was no time to waste. Michael stayed calm and guided Dad and Grandma on what to do next to help mom and baby.

With Michael providing instructions over the phone, Dad delivered the baby just before Tampa Fire Rescue’s Rescue 19-B arrived to provide additional care to Mom and baby.

Our dispatchers are often the first first responders someone encounters during an emergency. Before fire or rescue crews arrive, they can provide lifesaving instructions over the phone; from guiding someone through CPR or helping control severe bleeding to assisting with childbirth. Their ability to remain calm, gather critical information and provide clear instructions can make all the difference in those first crucial minutes.

Great job to Michael and congratulations to the family on their newest little arrival, a baby boy!

🔥 Firefighter of the Quarter – 3rd Quarter 2026 🔥

Tampa Fire Rescue is proud to recognize Lt. Barbaro Dominguez, as our Firefighter of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2026.

Assigned to Station 5-B, Lt. Dominguez has distinguished himself through his advanced medical knowledge, dedication to patient care and commitment to developing others.

As a Paramedic Field Training Officer and lead instructor in Hillsborough Community College’s paramedic program, he has invested countless hours in preparing the next generation of fire service professionals.

Lt. Dominguez does more than identify areas for improvement, he gives others the knowledge, tools and confidence they need to succeed. He is an educator, mentor and leader who makes everyone around him better.

We are proud to recognize Lt. Dominguez for his service and dedication to Tampa Fire Rescue.

Congratulations to our newest graduates of the Hillsborough College Paramedic program. These firefighters completed the intensive year-long course of advanced EMS medical training, which included over 1,100 hours of lectures, lab skills and patient scenarios, in addition to hospital rotations, street ride alongs, and all while fulfilling their normal duty shift assignment at the fire stations. We are of their achievements!

Congratulations to: Charles Fowler, Dalton Gulley, Robert Harrison, Matthew Montero, Dario Rodriguez, Timothy Williams, and Ava Zaslow (Pictured with Rescue Chief Christopher Shipp and Paramedic Instructor Captain Jeff Hill).

🚒🤝🚁A LIFESAVING JOINT RESPONSE: When seconds mattered, worked alongside Bayflite 3 to provide critical care and rapid transport for a critically injured patient. From the moment our crews arrived, every action was focused on one goal: giving that patient the best possible chance for survival.

After receiving immediate treatment and stabilization, the patient was transferred to Bayflite 3 for rapid air transport to a local area trauma center, helping ensure they reached definitive care within the critical “Golden Hour.”

Moments like these demonstrate the importance of teamwork across emergency services. One mission: protecting lives. Kudos to the A-Platoon of Engine 22, Rescue 21, Truck 21, District 5 and Bayflite 3.

FREE SMOKE ALARM INSTALLATION!

Fire Prevention Week is October 4–10, and Tampa Fire Rescue is bringing FREE smoke alarm installations directly to neighborhoods across Tampa!

Our firefighters, inspectors, and volunteers will install smoke alarms and share important fire safety tips to help keep you and your family safe.

Reminder: You must be a resident within the Tampa city limits to be eligible.

Installation Schedule:
Monday, Oct. 5: North Tampa | 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 6: East Tampa | 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 7: South Tampa | 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

Today’s date comes with an important safety reminder: Contact 811 before you dig!

Tampa Fire Rescue HazMat members from Station 6-A recently teamed up with TECO Energy and TECO Peoples Gas🛁 to discuss the dangers of gas line ruptures and how our teams can work together to safely and effectively respond when they occur.

Unsafe digging is one of the situations that can lead to HazMat responses involving damaged underground gas lines. And it doesn’t take heavy machinery to cause a problem; sometimes a shovel is enough. Here are the chances of damaging lines, if you don’t call before you dig:

🌱 3.1x more likely during landscaping 🪵 2.8x more likely while installing a fence 🔧 1.6x more likely to involve hand tools

Whether it’s a big project or a weekend DIY, make 811 part of the plan.
