On this day in 1964, the North Tampa Branch Library opened to the public! This branch originally began providing library services in a 3,500 sq-ft building at 8916 North Boulevard. This circa 1990s photograph depicts the branch after it had expanded to a 10,500 sq-ft footprint but before it was replaced with a new 24,000 sq-ft building in 2009.

The North Tampa Branch Library had a ball making their own dog-friendly cookie cabin for the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center's annual Holiday Canine Cookie Cabin Contest. The library's cookie architects created a cozy home with a pool on the side, a garden in the backyard, and a driveway complete with a small dog treat car.
