Rome wasn’t built in a day but THIS Rome can go home with you today! ✨🏛️

Meet Rome! Our 8 year old, under 50 lb sweetheart who arrived as a stray in mid April and has been busy building his own little empire here at the shelter.
Rome may share a name with one of history’s greatest cities, but trust us this guy is way easier to manage.

Rome is all about fun:
• LOVES toys (especially squeaky ones!)
• A+ fetch player
• Big pool fan
• Knows cues like sit, stay, paw
• Prefers female dogs in playgroups
• Takes treats gently and loves popping up for pets

He can be excited on leash but volunteers say he’s easy to redirect. He’s been waiting long enough — nearly the whole summer — and he’s so ready to trade shelter walls for a forever home.

A name fit for a legend but this Khan isn’t here to conquer worlds. He’s just trying to conquer his fears. ❤️

At 2 years old, this large Shar Pei mix carries a name that sounds mighty, yet his heart is soft. Khan doesn’t march into battle, he tiptoes. He flinches at fast hands, thinks twice before stepping out of the car, and needs slow reassurance that people can be kind.

On his foster outing, Khan needed to be lifted into the car — no protests, just uncertainty. He settled in soon after, enjoying the breeze in his face and quietly taking in the world. With gentle words and slow movements, he began leaning in for scratches and nudging his muzzle into his foster’s lap.

With staff and volunteers, Khan shows the same steady progress. He walks calmly, takes treats gently, sits for photos, and explores the yard with quiet curiosity. He’s still head shy but building confidence. Every day, the walls come down just a little more.

Khan may not be the conqueror history tells stories about but he is a brave soul fighting his own small battles and winning them one by one.

Now he needs a home willing to help him finish that journey.

Big Eared Alert at the Shelter! 📡✨

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to live with a dog who can hear a treat bag from three rooms away, come meet our crew of extra ear models!

These pups have ears so impressive, we’re pretty sure they can pick up FM radio. Windy day? They’re practically aerodynamic. Easter season? They get mistaken for bunnies at least twice a week. 🐰

But behind the satellite dish cuteness is a whole lot of love waiting to go home. If you’re in need of better “reception” and a loyal best friend, stop by and let one of our big eared buddies tune in to your heart. 💛

Jaxon has been with us for over 200 days, and his story is one we truly hope ends with a forever home.

He arrived in early February as a stray. He was underweight, in rough condition, and clearly having had a hard time before he made it to us. His intake photo shows a dog who had been carrying far too much on his own.

But today, Jaxon is almost unrecognizable.

With time, care, and consistency, he’s filled out, brightened up, and discovered a huge love for water. Whether it’s a kiddie pool, a hose, or a splash session in the yard — it’s where he’s happiest. He’s done incredibly well with staff, volunteers, and on his Adventure Tails outings, showing us again and again what a friendly, resilient dog he is.

Unfortunately, after 200+ days in the shelter, Jaxon is starting to show anxiety in his kennel. He needs an “out” soon. A foster, an adopter, someone who can help him continue this upward trajectory before stress sets him back.

Jaxon has already proven he can transform with just a little support. Now, he needs a home to finish that transformation.

Empanada is back at PRC and we’re hoping this time, his stay is much shorter!❤️

Formerly known as Chief, this 6 year old water loving boy spent over 13 months in the shelter during his first stay. He finally left in January, only to return in early August after his owner was evicted and arrested. Through no fault of his own, he’s starting over again.

But Empanada hasn’t lost who he is. He still heads straight to the pool, splashes in the water, enjoys the hose, and plays fetch with squeaky toys and tennis balls. He takes treats gently, sits close for affection, and explores the garden with a calm energy. He bonds slowly, but once he trusts you, he’s loyal, gentle, and deeply rewarding to love.

Empanada is a good dog who has been through too much instability. He deserves a home where he can settle, explore, and finally belong.

Let’s make sure he doesn’t wait another year. If you’re looking for a resilient, affectionate, water loving companion, Empanada is ready — and he’s been ready for a long time.

Our Big, Sweet, Goofy Boy 🤎🐾

Walten came in as a stray back in mid March, and from day one it’s been clear: He is 80 pounds of pure himbo energy.

Sure, he barks at his kennel door like he’s auditioning for security detail but get him outside?
🧸 He turns into a soft, wiggly stuffed animal destroyer.
🐾 He knows sit and paw (and he shows them off proudly).
💗 He stays glued to your side for nonstop pets.
🍪 Takes treats like a polite gentleman.
🌞 Loves flopping under a bench, sniffing around, or carrying toys he may or may not “accidentally” shred.

In foster, Walten showed his true heart:
He’s thoughtful, calm in the home, house trained, patient, respectful, and incredibly loyal.
He’ll wait for permission to jump on the couch, loves hanging out with his people, and wants nothing more than to be someone’s big ol’ best friend.
He’s a strong, oversized sweetheart who sometimes gets a little too excited around new people or dogs — but with kind guidance and patience, this big mushball shines.

✨ Walten is the lovable himbo hero who just needs a person to match his big heart and bigger personality. ✨

Meet Princess and Precious!

A bonded pair who were lovingly surrendered in July when their family could no longer care for them. They’re looking for a home where they can stay together. Regal sisters stick together, after all! 👑💛

Princess, according to her foster, wasted zero time settling in. She strutted out of her carrier like she owned the place, inspected every nook and cranny, and promptly declared the household “acceptable.” She’s spunky, talkative, and a champion napper who still gets the occasional zoomie burst. Princess loves being around people, enjoys cuddling, and learned very quickly that kitchen counters are not part of her royal domain. Crunchy treats? Yes. Food with gravy? Double yes. Pate? Absolutely not.

Precious, meanwhile, is the quieter, gentler soul of the duo. She’s still learning to feel safe in her foster home and prefers cozy hideaways. Behind curtains, under beds, or anywhere she can keep an eye out while staying tucked in. She’ll accept soft pets, but she’s still working on deciding if she enjoys them. She’s fully litter box trained and tends to snack and potty when things are quiet. Precious isn’t shy, she’s just saving her sparkle for someone special. ✨

Together, these girls balance each other. One confident, silly, and snuggly; the other tender, timid, and waiting for the right person to show her she’s safe.

If you’re looking for a pair of sweet seniors who will bring personality, companionship, and heart to your home, Princess and Precious would love a quiet, loving place to call forever. 💜
