Today on the 9/11 National Day of Service, our community came together in the spirit of unity, remembrance, and action 💙

In honor of , thousands of volunteers, local businesses, and first responders joined the annual 9/11 Day Meal Pack event. Together, they packed an incredible 430,000 meals to directly support local neighbors facing hunger right here in our community. 📦

Myth vs. Reality ⬇️

Myth: Food banks only hand out boxes of canned food and old produce.

Reality: Modern food banks work directly with farmers and grocery stores to bring fresh produce, dairy, and high-quality meat straight to the community.

Myth: Only unhoused people use food banks.

Reality: Many households using food banks are working families who are doing all they can but simply can’t make ends meet in today’s economy.

Myth: Food banks encourage dependency.

Reality: Food banks today don't just feed families, they address the root causes of hunger. They offer wrap-around support including third-party financial resources, career training, and on-campus health clinics to help families gain long-term stability.

Today’s food banks are helping working families thrive, not just survive.

What does hunger actually look like? It’s often hidden in plain sight.

It can look like a senior skipping medicine to afford dinner, a working parent pulling double shifts, or a family choosing between gas for a doctor’s visit and groceries for the week.

This Hunger Action Month, let’s look closer, care deeper, and ensure every neighbor has a place at the table. 🍽️

Yesterday, over 600 Humana volunteers stepped into our Causeway Center for their annual Day of Service.

Across two shifts, these incredible teams worked side-by-side to pack and repack thousands of meals, prepare fresh, nutritious food, cook warm meals from scratch, and walk alongside our neighbors as they shopped for their families.

We are deeply grateful to Humana for standing with us in this fight. Every meal prepped and every bag packed brings immediate comfort, relief, and dignity to a local family who needs to know they aren't alone.

Thank you, Humana, for showing what true community support looks like. 💚

Navigating healthcare systems can feel overwhelming, especially when you are already facing tough times. But what if receiving care didn’t mean doing it all alone? 💚

🎙️ In the latest episode of Stick a Fork in It, we talk with Brad Herremans about how connected care brings real relief. When neighbors come to Feeding Tampa Bay and connect with healthcare providers like Suncoast Community Health Centers, they gain more than just an appointment, they gain an entire network of support.

When we show up for one another and build connected, compassionate systems, nobody has to figure it out by themselves.
