Tenant-Based Rental Assistance is a HUD federally funded program that helps low-income households pay rent and security deposits in private market housing. The program allows household to choose any qualifying unit and take it if they move. Assistance lasts 24 months, with renters paying 10% of adjusted income.
As shared in MNT in previous months, the TBRA is now Open beginning 07/01/2026! Households residing in Tama and Marshall counties. Meskwaki enrolled, Elders, and Veteran-preference, all other tribally enrolled individuals encouraged to apply.
Qualifying Criteria:
Must provide Tribal Enrollment (any recognized tribe)
Must be 18 years old and older
One Applicant per Household
Landlord/Property Manager (non-family member)
