The names change. The situations stay familiar.

A family whose income dropped unexpectedly. A medical bill that arrived before the insurance processed. A housing situation that needed intervention before it became permanent.

Helping Hands Ministries doesn't have a slow season. The need is steady, which is why the fund needs to stay funded.

If you gave earlier this year, thank you. If you've been meaning to and haven't, September is as good a time as any.

School starting doesn't fix a financial crisis. Cooler weather doesn't make the rent easier to pay.

For families going through something hard, the season changing is just... the season changing. The situation stays the same.

Helping Hands Ministries is here year-round. The fund stays active. The applications keep coming in. And because of donors who give consistently, not just when it's top of mind, we're able to keep helping.

If you want to be part of that consistency, we'd be grateful for your support.

We receive a lot of applications. And we read every single one.

The single mom who picked up a second job after her husband left, then got injured and couldn't work either one. The retired couple living on fixed income who got hit with a plumbing emergency that wiped out their savings. The young father who just needed a bridge—two weeks of help to get to his next paycheck.

We don't share their stories publicly. That's not ours to do. But we carry them.

If you've ever wondered whether your donation actually matters, it does. We see it directly.

There's a rhythm to charitable giving that doesn't match the rhythm of hardship.

People give most in December. Need is highest in summer, when school lunch programs pause, utility bills peak, and the financial pressure on low-income families intensifies.

Helping Hands Ministries doesn't slow down in August. We're still receiving applications. Still reviewing them. Still getting help to people as fast as we can.

What makes that possible is having donors who give outside of December. If that's you—thank you. If it could be, we'd love to have you.

For most families, back to school means backpacks, supply lists, maybe some new shoes.

For families in financial hardship, it means something harder. The supply list becomes a source of stress. The school fees feel impossible. The cost of feeding kids who were getting free lunches all summer suddenly lands on an already stretched budget.

Helping Hands Ministries sees this every August. And because of donors who give year-round, not just in December, we're able to help.

If you've been meaning to give and haven't yet, this is a meaningful time to do it.

We know summer feels lighter. Longer days, slower pace, easier to set aside the harder things.

But for families in financial hardship, July and August are often some of the hardest months. School meal programs pause. Childcare costs spike. Utility bills climb with the heat.

Helping Hands Ministries stays funded and stays ready all summer because need doesn't take a vacation.

And if you know of a family in need, or you’ve been wanting to help, call us and talk it through with us. We’d love to help you find the best way to make a difference.

If you’ve been meaning to give, the end of July is a good time to start. Your gift can go to work right away.

We want to keep it that way.

Helping Hands Ministries has been able to respond to every legitimate application we've received because donors have kept the fund replenished. That's not something we take for granted, it's something we're actively grateful for every time it's true.

As we head into the second half of the year, we want to be honest: the need doesn't slow down. Families in crisis don't take a summer break. And the fund needs to stay funded to stay ready.

If you've given before, thank you. If you've been thinking about it, now is a genuinely good time.

We know $50 doesn't sound like a lot.

But here's what $50 looks like when it reaches someone through Helping Hands Ministries:

It's a week of groceries for a family whose breadwinner just lost their job. It's a prescription that's been sitting at the pharmacy because the copay wasn't there. It's part of a utility payment that keeps the lights on for kids who need to do homework after dark.

$50 looks different depending on which side of a crisis you're standing on.

We're not asking for a gift. We're just asking you to consider what giving something means — because on the other end, it's never small.

That's the honest truth about how Helping Hands Ministries works.

We don't know who's going to need help next week. We don't know if it'll be one family or ten. We don't know if it'll be a medical crisis or a job loss or a housing emergency.

What we do know is that if the fund is there, we can help. And if it isn't, we can't.

Donors make fast help possible by giving before they know who needs it. That kind of giving, without a specific face attached to it, is quietly extraordinary.

We celebrate freedom this week. Flags, fireworks, cookouts, family.

And we think about the families in our community who are in the middle of something hard right now, a job loss, a medical crisis, a situation that didn't care that a holiday was coming.

Freedom from financial crisis isn't something everyone gets to celebrate. Helping Hands Ministries exists to help close that gap, one grant at a time, one family at a time.

Happy Fourth of July. And thank you to every donor who makes it possible for us to show up for people who need it. 🇺🇸
